Gary and other moderators:

I just recieved a PM from a member in response to a post where I asked a guest if they didn't see the value in becoming a member.

In short the PM said that they saw the value and wanted to be a member but that they were having some pretty hard times financially right now.

I'd like permission to post a contest of sorts (I'll foot the bill) I'd like to pick 2-3 people based off of their private submissions as to why they can't become members right now. We can all vote on the 2-3 best submissions and I personally will sponsor those people in becoming members and foot the bill for their membership for one year.

Any imput and permission to do so is appreciated. I've been blessed beyond my needs and feel that it is the least I can do in return for everything I've recieved from this board (hell I won a free website just from being on this great site!)

Thanks!

Chris, if I may;

Not why they can't, but why they want to. (me a member)

There is an old adage - it's not what you say, but how you convey what you say.

You're a good hearted man, and a disabled vet.  I respect the hell out of you.

Thank you Ted, and you have my respect as well. Your service is also appreciated and it takes us all as a individuals to come together as one. I did incorrectly express my intentions with the contest. I honestly am not sure if anyone would take the time to write something compelling as to why they want to be a member but are not already. It's my intention to give back out of good spirit but I'd be lying if I said it also wasn't to kind of conduct my own social experiment as well. I'm curious if to see if when something is offered for free is anyone actually willing to work for it?

Chris,

This is a wonderful thing for you to want to do. I wish I had the means but don't. The only thing I can add to this is that I have been robbing Peter to pay Paul all year with a few good weeks in there. As mentioned when I joined, the remodeling industry is dead. I know you and others have read my posts and know my feeling is that the membership dues are, in my mind, part of the cost of building even a small set up like I did with the help of Mike. I think it would be good to do as you have suggested. I hope the person is sincere and maybe a part of that person winning they would have to do the same to someone else once they get on their feet.

Happy Veterans Day Sir

Chris;
I salute you for this wonderful idea. I don't think you need anyone's permission to do this since there is no liability to RCIA and it is strictly a personal effort.

  Why not preview your post here and get some input/ideas and then copy & paste the final product in the open.
Thanks and good luck.
Gary
