It works for us, and we get work from our  Apple Roof Cleaning Review.
People trust the BBB, and if you do good work and take care of customer problems you will have a high rating too.

You would be suprised how many people actually go to the BBB website to check contractors out. I get a monthly email telling me how many people have requested our report.

Good heads up Chris. I like your rating!!!! They told me I need to be in business one year before I can list? Looking forward to a listing with them.

Thanks for the feedback.

They have a report on me, and Im not a member. Why should I fork over $300.00 if I still have a report anyway? This is a real question. Im not being a wise arse.

I think they call you once someone does a report on you. I think you can still get a bad report even if your not a member. I was blown over when one of my customers called me after an estimate. She went to the BBB and I checked out ok and to come do the job. I said " oh the BBB. Yeah....that...

I agree. I also didn't like the way they go about signing you up. Trying to scare you into joining rubbed me the wrong way.

let me pose this question back to you guys.  why would you pay $100 to be an RCIA member if you already know how to clean roofs and can say you are certified in the RCIA method of cleaning?

Ill answer it for myself.  Because it adds value to your company's image.  Bottom line is when you end your sales pitch with, " i am a member of the roof cleaning institute of america and the BBB" it gives them a sense of security and more comfortable with doing business with you.

obviously its nothing you have to do, just another notch on your belt and can improve your talk track when selling a job.  the chlorine cowboy joe blow down the road that isnt a member of the rcia or the BBB shows up and the only way he is getting the job is if he lowballs it. If i was a John Smith and didnt know the difference i would rather pay $550 to have the certified rcia and BBB member clean my roof then pay $300 to joe blow.

pretty sure the message is clear on alot of these posts and from what i have read its what AC teaches and others.  your selling VALUE ADDED services!!!

i have sold one job thanks to the bbb. It was within a week of joining and it was an executive of the BBB. HMMM! after a year, I didnt renew. Their calls to me referenced how many people called and asked to check on me. Well, prove it! they dont give you any proof. I still carry an A rating.
So- Pay $100 to the RCIA, $350 (here) for the BBB, $350 to UAMCC, $350 to the PWNA.
Oh yeah, my painters licence costs $150 a year, (So I can "Water Proof" pavers) plus I dont know how much yet the continuing ed requirement costs.

My best selling tool is my website. Before and afters and customer testimonials. Logoed truck. Actual printed estimates. They all get me a premium price. The BBB listing may get you found. The RCIA may get you SEO rankings. The PWNA and UAMCC , well the jury is still out on how those help.

It has to be the whole package! You cant rely on just one thing and you also have only so much money to go around. Choose wisely before you join, grasshopper.

Great post. You cant drop money at it and expect it to make you money. You have to go out and use it to your advantage.

In 2 years Ive had ONE person say they found me ON the BBB website. But I put their logo on our marketing pieces and a little line that says check out our report. People do look at it.

Its just one piece.

Here is what I am getting, we start telling them we are BBB Accredited Members with an A+ rating, they stop us, and say "I know, that's why I called your company"
These customers seem more interested in a quality job, then the lowest price.
They are a different kind of shopper, shopping not for price, but for a good job.
They start wanting to know your qualifications, experience, references, great stuff like that.

Jon;
Looking at your prices you posted, it looks like RCIA is the best deal out there. Probably gives you more opportunity to make the big money also. Just one more reason why EVERYONE needs to be a 'Paid Member".

Very Good ABC Video News story on the BBB...

The Better Business Bureau, one of the country's best known consumer watchdog groups, is being accused by business owners of running a "pay for play" scheme in which A plus ratings are awarded to those who pay membership fees, and F ratings used to punish those who don't.

Aw man, good chit! This should be in the paid section, lol!!!

 I been a paid member since 2006. I missed a payment last year, A-. Was A +

I paid this year, and they promised we could get my membership back to 2006.

Its still, I just joined, the bbb this year. This is many months later. still the same.
