Been reading about pumps. Seems like the majority like 12 volt.  Is there any advantage to using air?

Nope, just lucky. They are close but could have been better. You don't need a tripod for duplicate shots. What are you gonna do?...leave your camera on a tripod in the exact same position waiting until it rains to take the after shot? I don't think so. Just look at the before picture on your camera display right before taking the after shot. Take a mental note of a few objects in the picture and position the camera for the after shot. Easy shmeasy!

I don't think leaving it in the rain would be to good.....just wondering if you used a tripod.

There are advantages and disadvantages to all pumps. All of which have been discussed at length previously.

Guys, its courteous to not hijack threads and take them in a different direction.

Seems like the people using air like the adjustability that the air diaphram pumps offer without the risk of frying the motor.  People using 12v like the cost vs. air and the quiteness 12v offers.  Scott from Confident Roof Cleaning is testing a new 12v pump called Flojet Pentaflex 7.0.  Seems like he is having good luck with it.  If I were you, no matter what choice you go with, have a backup.  Hope this helps.

Thanks craig! 12 volt was my inital plan but was just looking for some reassurance. Gonna order some equipment from lori tomorrow. I think we will be going with the 5850 pump and the 3/4 hose.

Lori is the only vendor I have ordered from and she has my business from now on.  Excellent knowledge and customer service.

There is many threads about pumps, everyones different opinion on them. If your starting out a 5850 pump would probably be your best beat until you have some roofs under your belt, this way you get your ground guy trained up and you both start working with one another at a good pace. You only go as quick as your ground guy can keep up. I started with 12v but moved to air pumps down the road, I personally like the adjustment of a regulator, if I need the extra push I just adjust, if I am walking on a fairly flat roof than it is turned down for me so I can just spray and walk.

I have used the yamada air pumps mostly but now I am running the new flo jet air pump from pressuretek, you have up to 10glm pump and only need 2-4.7 cfm to run it. I have been using it for a few weeks now with no problems. I run 200 ft of 3/4 hose, to a 3/4 ball valve, with 50 and 60 tips or a turn type garden nozzle. Good luck and check out the threads about the delavans, they have plenty of info for you. Bob from pressuretek can help you with the 12v set up, or lori can help you with the air pump. If you decided to check out the flo jet call bob from presssure tek, at 211.00 you can not beat that air pump.

Mark I used the 5850 initially and recently went to the air All-Flo.  The 5850 is a great starter pump and is really worthy of replacing with another one when it craps out.  I went with the All-Flo for realiabily and control of my flow.  I now use my 5850 for chemical transfer.

I used 5/8" kuri hose with my 5850.  Worked great.  As far as hose goes Chris always says bigger is better so the 3/4" you are thinking of buying should be fine.  Just remember it will take a larger hose reel to hold 200' and altlhough I have never used 3/4" some people have talked about it being heavy and harder to move around.

In PWP's distributor section Lori posted a diagrahm for how the Delevans should be configured.  Look for it as it should help with the setup.

Good luck.

Charles

Thanks Charles. I'm in this for the long haul to hopefully someday go full time with it. But I don't know if it's good to get just something to start out with or get what will last. I don't want to have to upgrade in 6 months when i could have went ahead and spent the money now for what will be needed later. I really appreciate the help. Sorry if I seem to ask too many questions just feeling a little over whelmed. There is soooo much information on this site with sooo many different opinions it's hard to figure out what is best for a certain companies needs. But thanks again.
