For many, the roof can be an "out of sight, out of mind" item. There's no need to hide your head in the sand. Your roof can be treated quickly and affordably and add extra years to the life of your roof. Here are some pics of the damage that is caused by lichen. Notice the craters left on the roof from the lichen. With this amount of granule loss this shingle will surely fail prematurely.

Great post! Our roofs in upstate NY are loaded with lichen. It's not easy to convince the home owner that the lichen we just sprayed will eventually come off the roof (just not today). Many people want immediate results although when we put things in writing, they are more at ease with the lichen dilema. We assure them that on average, it can take 4-6 weeks with some heavy rains, but the lichen will eventually come off. They can definitely leave some granual damage behind though.
I did one earlier this week I posted but didn't take the close ups. You can still see lichen from the pictures I took. This guy was great. I told him it could be weeks before it's gone. He was so happy with the outcome of the roof in general he said he didn't mind the wait!
Guys, Try to remember that these are pictures that Ed posted in his state certified area for his customers. Maybe send your questions to him in a PM instead of this thread?
