Long story short, I started out way too nice to people and not to myself 5 years ago.
"hey while your up there cleaning the gutters could you take down the antenna?" "sure"
Hey while your up there I got this shingle that blew off.... sure
OR
I'll wash that house for $99, What a hundred! Thats too much!!! (I never washed a house for 100, lol)
Basically whatever price is tooo much!
OR
"my brother needs his roof washed too. cut me a deal and I'll get you him!"
"I wont forget to send you an e-mail, with some nice things to say about your company"
"I know the president of the HOA"
"cut me a deal and I'll get you my neighbor"
HO are the biggest liars and con artist! LOL!!!
I'm ranting about this because of todays sale. I told her I was walking if I didnt get this price. I looked her in the eye and told her she already got a good deal on all this work. Doing the whole house, roof sidewalk. I took money off for the combine deal, the sign in front yard, already sold her and threw in the sidewalk for free. WTF!
This a house right next to a roof wash we did.
I asked her what was her expected price for the roof wash she said 150. I'm more than twice that.
She tried to get me to take another 50 off sunday. I said I'll take 25 off if we sign today(yesterday) . She made me drive back there today and still wanted the 25 off. Then asked if I gave military discounts. This is a half mil home. She livin way better than me. LOL!!
I tried to explain to her the diff between johnny and his lawnmower and a true professional landscaping service. She diddnt want to hear it.
I tried to explain to her that I want to be here the next 2 years to cover the roof warranty. Not out of business because i was a lowballer.
I felt bad but did put my foot down. She said "well it has to be done".
Ohh! she was supposed to call me before 10 this morning. She is very computer savy too! I'm sure she did her best to shop me, and still try to get money off. she called around 1.
roof n house wash. I almost blew my top when she asked again for a lower price than 650, The roof aint bad at all.
I did tell her I was going to walk. I went low enough geeze. I wanted to stay in business to honor the 2 year warranty lol!
Its a half mil house but prices are way higher around here. Doing that job tomorow. youll see the pics.
I feel alot better now! lol!!! It was cool to come here n bitch about it!
The mentality on average around here is "ghetto". Even though they have huge houses and mercedes.
Ghetto, Complain often, get the lowest price and when they show up ask for free stuff, while you are there.
Just a customer ya dont want, lol! I used some of a HO garden hose once and she asked for a reduced fee! Always lookin for a cut in price and have you do something for free.
Was this a Bowie or Crofton Job bro?? In Bowie especially you will find poorly built overpriced homes sold to people that could never afford them in the first place. It is a sad part of MD made from the housing boom. I know some of the greenbelt area is the same way. Mike probably charged a decent price for the job. Mike I agree that sometimes you just have to walk away. Sorry you had to go through that. Mike I hope you can get a salesman next year to save you these headaches!! Then you won't even have to know when you missed a sale to a client like that.
I dont even show up for under 325.00, i have only cleaned 2 roofs this yr for 325, and it was just the front of the homes roof that took about 20 gallons each... i will haggle a bit, but im still getting paid top dollar for my work, I have an answer for every question or remark they have... you can be Mr nice guy but also Mr Firm guy all at the same time...

Shes is a single mother that just put a kid in college. She got a good deal. She walked around the house with a fine tooth comb! Some dirt came out a weep hole. We rinsed that. Not bad money for half a days work. I wasnt going any lower than that. She watched every move we made and I'm glad she did too. Told her if she can get me a refferal I'll buy her a NICE lunch! In the end when she seen the quality, it justified the "high" price in her mind, it all worked out.
Bill: I'm trying to get the homeowners to sell for me. I'm teaching my helper to sell too. The salesman has to be as smart as us and answer any question the HO has, right away. I think they should have some hands on first before they go out selling?
