The gutter cane is a cool idea too! Flushing the SH out of the gutters while diluting the hell out of it before it even hits the ground seems like a good plan.

The roof anchor isn't made for keeping slack in the line and catching you if you fall off the edge of the roof (which I'm sure it would do too.). It's best suited for keeping the line tight behind you and keeping you from falling down the roof in the first place. So yea, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that it would hold 270 pounds just fine.

Also would you not rather break a pipe than fall to the ground? Seems like a no brainer to me.

Scott I would rather not break the pipe period, do you know what a project that could be replacing that pipe? So to me if their was any chance in breaking the pipe I would say it would be much smarter to tie off to something on the ground. I think that anchor is much more designed for a roof that isn't steep and that much tension wouldn't be applied to it.

I think it's a great thing I'm just questioning it, thats all.

Scott I'm going to buy one and try it ok.

I believe AC said he's been using this type of anchor for 12 years and has never broken a pipe. That's about all you need to know.

Seriously it is a great safety tool. I wonder if they can put a self recoiling device at the end of it so you aren't tripping over the hose and safety rope.
Just like a vacuum cord, and go one step further add in a quick tension stop just like a seatbelt. That would maximize roof cleaning safety. It shouldn't be hard to do its just seatbelt science.

Tried the self recoilers.......................bleach kill self recoilers.

Guys I guarantee we will have about a dozen or more at SC. After that we will have a vendor that will be offering these online for direct ship. Along with the gutter cane and the ladder stabilizer. I will have a dozen or so of each of these for SC.

AC

Darn they stole my invention... Well I would had made the parts out of kevlar and stainless and an open housing.

Great story. I am cleaning a cedar shake house and have been using a rope with tie off. Not a good idea on shake roofs. I need a sefety harness set up. Anyone have recommendations? I can't make Charleston. So need to get set up now.

Please pm info.

Thanks

AC & I went to Lowes hardware store and bought one in the roofing section.

Part # 166681 (AOS # 94020) comes with a 50' lifeline and
Part # 134465 (AOS # 94050) comes with a 25' lifeline
I just bought me a 50' rope from Amazon.  Here is the url for he 50' lifeline kit and you do not even have to leave the comfort of your computer chair...  lol

get you a good harness and find a local fabricator and have him make you the roof anchor.
