safety is important and you guys are right this is a fourm to learn and being safe is a big part of that. anyone can get hurt doing the simplest things. and roof cleaning is not as simple as it seems soap is slippery hoes in the way and the moss is realy bad. you can get hurt working from a ladder like in garys unfortanate accident for as many years that i have been a tree climber belive it or not i never felt safe on a ladder i just feel safer on the roof but would not recomend any one that has no expereance to do the same.

A story was relayed to me by a customer of mine as to why he called me to clean the gutters.
Coworker decided to save money and clean his own gutters. To make a long story short ladder and homeowner fell. Busted up his shoulder. 3/4 of a million dollars and 4 months later he was back at work.... He is an architect
Just like on tractors, people don't wear the seat belts. Accidents happen FAST and you can not jump off a tractor fast enough to clear it. Better to ride it out.
Ladder standoffs give your ladder the stability that you are looking for. $25 for the bolt on ones at Home Depot. Get them!
workman's comp........
You may be fine working without workman's comp but what is to keep the wife or mother of a worker that dies from suing the home owner? Or your wife for that matter? Protect your customers and get workman's comp for yourself also. It will be MANDATORY in Tennessee next year. If you sub out work, carry workman's comp on them also so that their wives can not sue YOU.
There would be no need for fund raising if everyone carried workman's comp on themselves.
