cleaning above the dormers on a 2 story house
Permalink

Hey Guys
This forum is absolutely addictive!

Ive been reading for a few months now and actually Ive done 2 small houses with the apple sauce and they turned out perfect.

I believe Im gonna have the opportunity to clean some 2 story houses in a nice neighborhood.
When I get in this neighbor hood I really want to look like I know what Im doing.
My question is this
The homes are 2 story with 2 or 3 dormers on the fronts
How do you get the sauce above the dormers and also in between the dormers is like 4 or 5 feet without fading the paint
The roofs are to steep to walk
I ll be using a 5850 pump
Thanks

YOU will have over spray, its a fact of life. Just make sure you rinse the paint areas as soon as you can, after the stains are gone

Yes like that, and some even closer together which would make it harder to spray in between from a distance without getting on siding

If you dont want to get on the roof, you'd be moving a  ladder a couple times - but it looks like you could get a ladder at each of the dormer peaks pretty easilly.

yes you could take a 32' footer and place it on the peaks. what ever way is safe for you. Let me tell you those 32' footers are heavy.

I have my ladders with me a lot. Around Charleston, many of the homes are 3 stories (2 floors above garage) and have 10' ceiling heights. Some neighborhoods have these tall homes and are only 10' from the next door home. It can be pretty tricky sometimes.  But believe me, I dont touch a ladder unless I have to.

If you get a lighter duty 32 footer it will weigh less, of course some people need a 350lb rated ladder :)

Bill I always buy good ladders I have to climb them. I also don't lend my ladders out to anyone because I don't know if the dropped it or damaged it.

Yeah like me after a lunchtime cheesesteak. Thats one thing I dont cheap out on. I never by a weak ladder. Always fiberglass and and my big dogs are solid aluminum, none of that thin stuff.

Thats another good safety point if you are a big guy you don't want to climb too high on the ladder when it is fully extended, just get a bigger ladder if you do.

And if you don't then always always always check your rung hooks, because they are getting chem on them whether you like it or not, and if the bolt that holds them in goes, so do you!

Also if I had my way everything would be fiberglass, you can never be too careful when you are dealing with electricity. Here is a safety site that all should know.

Cheap ladders, high health insurance, high death rate. Just not worth it.

With dormers what Ive done. Spray the love like rain. Angle your gun or ball valve so it comes down like rain on the dormer and have your ground guy be your eyes if you cant see.
