I work by myself and have insurance. I haven't any workers I need to cover. And yes, if you're on a roof and not secured properly,...your workmans comp may be jeopardized,...at least fully. Workmans comp covers workers,...but it also has guidelines as to what is acceptable "accidents". I bet there isn't any workmans comp that covers guys being on a roof without being harnessed. Thats the way they assure people will do their best to protect themselves. and it doesn't matter if you have insurance or not,...homeowners are always at risk,....insurance only makes it less likely that they will be sued. And if you think having workmans comp on your workers assures they won't fall and have a life changing injury,...you need to wake up.

And if you're sending your guys up there and they fall because of lack of safety precautions,...you can also be sued,...even if you have comp on them. Aside from being seriously irresponsible with someone elses health.

But in the end,...insurance is very superficial when it comes to being all busted up because you choose to thumb your nose at safety.
But either way,...I'm done with this I guess.

Two problems with your post Jeff.

1. You work alone. Very unproffesional and dangerous not only to your self, but to your customers property.

2. IF I am not mistaken, According to Osha when working over 8 feet you MUST have 2 people on site in case one of them falls.

Jeff what happens to you when you DO slip and fall and your fall protection fails and nobody is around to hear you? Im just looking out for you buddy.....

There are lots of guys who go at it alone,...doesn't make them unprofessional Scott. I agree, it's not a perfect world,..but I am not careless because I work alone. If you wanna get into OSHA,...we're probably all guilty of something.

How is worse for the customers' property? We have gutters to catch the runoff. Not that hard to take care of the property Scott.

I think a one person roof cleaning company cleaning roofs off a ladder can be every bit as wreckless as a two man company working on the roofs with out fall protection.

for example, look at Gary he was working off a ladder while it would of been good if someone was footing his ladder, correct? be honest!

How stupid would one look if he fell off a ladder with no one around to help? are you going hold the home owner responsible to help you? or will you possibly lay there till someone finds you?

There's things one person shouldn't do alone like ice fishin, rock climbing, and S_ _  right?

Its to difficult for one man to work alone, every roof cleaner should have a ground man to help stand, and foot ladders, and just be there watering the plants and getting this and getting that.

accidents are going to happen thats why their called accidents.

I personally started out cleaning roofs alone and I found out real quick that it was necessary to pay a ground man a few bucks to help. I would just grab friends, church members, girls who ever just to water the vegetation, and mabybe to stand on my ladder.

It's just as dangerous to do this type of work alone.

Robert Dan is from south Jersey too, do you really expect him to tell you how much he charges?

Honestly it's not recommended to discuss prices here on this forum for many reasons. prices can vary from county to county and the public reads this information.

Robert just a suggestion.

Dan, Roof looks like it turned out good.  I still don't understand why you put yourself in danger everyday walking those roofs.  You are standing right on the ridge cap which is a no no.  Those shingles can crack and start leaking.  We would of shot that whole roof from a 14 foot A frame ladder and been done with it in probably less than 2 hours. To each their own.  I hope we don't read about you falling off a roof.  Your price seems about right.

Im not gonna defend him,  Ive had buddies fall from roofs. None died but not pretty.  My old boss fell 2 stories landed on his face. He was by himself worst of all. Woke up with a concussion and a fractured face in the hospital. Luckily somebody across the street saw him fall.

Some of us have been on roofs since 14 laying shingles or whatever.   By early 20's you think you invincible. At 35 and with 2 kids Ive wizened up some.  But were creatures of habit.

Anyway good job on the roof stay safe.

Jeff,

I would consider it a great loss if I could not find your comments at this forum.

Well he was kind of proud of the price, (since he posted it $900) so why not put the ppsqft.  Sure seems to be a lot of hostility here. I thought this was a learning forum.  Price point is vital to any business.

I'm just following the rules Robert, the moderators asked us not to post prices. It makes sense to me.

Ok didnt know that was a rule.   Just seems to be a vital part of business. I didnt realize he was so close.  But honestly Im just exploring this as an option.  There  is a company just north of me offering $275  no pressure roof cleaning.  It seemskinda of low.  Unless your doing a shed!!!.

Robert, our potential customers could visit here and notice that Dan charged 900.00 and perhaps you posted a picture of the same size house and you only charged 500.00. Dans customer is going to be very up set with him, he is going to feel like he got ripped off. get it?
