fat boy trouble ?

okay not really but I did learn a few things yesterday while cleaning roofs. 1st thing I did was suck the 50 gallon barrel empty. switched to other barrel and well my fat boy just ran didn't suck any fluid. I  thankfully remembered reading a post on this issue and realized I had air in the system.  all I did was walk my hose backwards draining the love back towards the pump then waited a minute and presto pump works fine. Not sure if running the love back to the pump helped or just waiting a minute or two was the fix, either way it works fine.  the other thing I learned was that I need a real tank not a barrel.biggrin

I keep running out of material during the day, I think I just need to fine tune my system a bit so I don't run out. I like the barrels but I just seem to not make it through the day with barrels. hmm you got me thinking on this one now.

I dont think your supposed to run any pump dry like that. Like a fuel pump, water pumps, or the like whatever theyre pumping is there only form of lubrication. I used to have a couple of shurflo in a race car for ethanol and tank ran dry few times and they usually dont last much longer after that. Not exactly sure how the fatboy goes , but just something to keep in mind.

Sometimes when a pump is run dry and you have a load of SH in your output hose, the pump will not prime and therefore does not have suction on the input.

Later on when there is no SH in the hose the punp will work fine.
