okay I just got a new fat boy and here is what I did. I had the 5850 mounted in my sanford and son truck, it worked great. I wanted to have a back up pump so got the fat boy for my main pump and will use the 5850 for my back up or use on smaller jobs. take a look at these pictures and let me get some feedback. but firs here is what I did. I made both pumps interchangable at the tee to the tanks and at the hose end. I can run either pump by swiching the fuse from one to the other, its ran by a on off swich. the other swich goes to the battery. when I want to charge the battery I turn the swich to on and charge it while driving. if its charged just shut the swich off.
Bob, Have you tested this set up out yet? I don't know about the elbows and tees. The Fatboy doesn't like restrictions. Give it a try and see what happens.
I did try it and it worked okay but just got off the phone with lori and well I am going to lose the 90's. I guess its back to the shop. wont take much just a few screws and some different positioning and It shoul all be okay, but thanks for poinging it out. THATS WHAT THE RCIA IS ALL ABOUT. THANKS
Sal, You want to mount them with the pump head down. Think what gravity does if you sprung a leak at your connection point......SH and pump motors dont mix...but still a good question

Bob, your pumps will perform better if they are mounted on the floor.
Using a 3/4" pvc pipe into the drum and a 1" hose from the pipe to your intake will aid in the suction and give your intake extra siphoning action.
Never use steel fittings, especially on the intake. They will rust and deteriorate your pump fast.
okay mike, your saying put the pumps on the floor add some more hose and that will make the pump work better? got that, now how about those 90 degree elbows should I lose those. I have 1 inch pvc pipe in the drums and one inch hose all the way to the intake on the pipe. no nippleing down its all one inch to the pump.
I'll make just a simple suggestion. All your wire connections would be better served to have heat shrink butt connectors. if you are around a marine store you can get some there if not Home Depot and Lowes have started to carry adhesive butt connectors and shrink wrap. Your connections will love you for it as they will always work. Under all the electrical tape you can't see what is going on until Oops, green wire and no power. Hope this helps looks like you got a good system, just a few tweeks to make it better.

As for the shrink butt connectors, I know for a fact that they have them at Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone. So if you are not around a marine store there you go.
