Having used Delavans for quite a few years, if you follow the advice from Lori and others, they last quite well! I am using 2 right now, that have both been working for about a year.

rinsing them promptly also extends the life.

Yes, I left that out! That is something I do religiously! I run 5-10 gallons of water through after each day, without fail!!

I have the fatboy bandit with the acumulator from Bob and have never had a problem with it. Took it out of the box when it arrived and never changed a setting. As far as customer service Bob is number 1 in my book.

Hi Ted. Sorry I haven't more of a signature. I could spend a moment in Photoshop, but that would be disingenuous. I'm just starting out and learning from the best here before certification and taking the plunge you took after USAF. Congrats to you! The bucket truck is a must, and is very impressive in the photo. I see the problems in Northern Virginia, and I'm in your area. I look forward to meeting you someday! If more of a signature is required in order to post here, I must have missed that when I joined as a paid member. Will you please let me know what is needed and I'll do my best to comply.

You don't need Photoshop to make your signature.

Hi Tom.  It's not a requirment on the RCIA that I'm aware of, however; you'll find that most of the 'regulars' on forums of this nature  prefer to know who they're interacting with and where they're from.  Some forums (TGS for example) are far more strict about it than others.

Signatures are easy, with no PhotoShop needed.  It could be as simple as 'Roof Cleaning Nokesville VA'.  Perhaps you're thinking avatar?

I'd be happy to meet you, and meet with you any time.  Welcome to the RCIA.

Ted,

Since I am not yet cleaning roofs in Nokesville, Virginia, that would not be a truthful statement.  I am not yet certified.  I have not yet formed the company.  I am learning.

Please show me where I had stated my location publically for you to post that as you have.

You read Ted's post wrong. He was giving you an "example" name, to help you learn.

 Thank you Chuck.

Good grief...

Back on topic.  My FatBoy worked great for a year, less one fuse blown due to corroded butt connectors.  I've been using the Pentaflex since then, although I expect to find a similar issue when I get around to troubleshooting it.

Hi Ted, et al.  I really shouldn't have posted yet, as I haven't yet formed a business and haven't chosen a business name or precise target, etc.  My name is Al.

I am learning the trade the best way I can determine, and that is to research and become certified and then form a company, after becoming insured and well-equipped.

I can see that one of my biggest blunders thus far, perhaps, was joining immediately as a paid member, versus an annonymous guest.  However, I recognize value when I see it, and I am a firm believer in paying my dues -- both in terms of due dilligence before investing, and in terms of paying those who provide the resources I consume.  Hence the immediate membership, albeit apparently premature.  My next step was to pay for field training by a certified member trainer.

I will not be posting further until and unless I have completed the steps necessary with a company name, licensing, insurance, LLC and DBA, etc., so that my credentials can be supplied honestly and in earnest.

Having found no explanation or preferences you described, under the Signature portion of my sign-up, I did what I believed was required for a new member at this very early stage of my research and paid affiliation.

As your IP address research afforded you, I am in your area -- if your area is quite large.  I would have told you specifically regardless.

I defer to your knowledge and seniority and territory in this industry, and I hope to not cross your path when it comes to a mutually desired customer.  If ever that day should come, I will humbly make every possible consideration in deference to you and your being here before me.  As it should be.

Will you show me where that IP address appears when members post?

Thanks in advance for that.

So long for now, until I am better qualified and prepared to be here.

Al

Same goes for me.  That's just one of the many reasons why we're here.

By the way, I got one of those acumulators from Bob. I haven't adjusted the pressure that it came set at.  I can run all the 30 noz. without it shutting off.  I don't use all of them all the time.  I keep two 4 bangers on me.  One with all 4 of the 30's and one with all 4 of the 40's.  That covers any roof I've done so far.

Just burned out a relay on a 2 week old pump. Chit happens and thankfully I had a back up (also with a freshly replaced relay) ready to roll. I am still not sorry to have dismissed my air pump, so far.

Chuck,

I have a metal strainer on the suction line in the tank, with metal clamp.

Following your lead, I'll remove those to avoid the corrosion Lori mentions.

What do you use then for a strainer and clamp in the tank?

Thanks,

Al

 Al;

There is a pipe available from most home improvement stores for hooking up a supply from a well. It is plastic and has numerous slits cut in it. Standard pipe sizes are available and can simply be glued together and inserted into your tank. I think there are some pics available thru the search bar(try tank filter ?).

Excellent.  I'll check it out.

If I get half the service out of mine as you've gotten out of the Delavan you mentioned on the last TalkShoe, I'll be a happy guy!

Thanks Gary.

Happened to us today.  Had two of my guys on a job today.  Called and said the pump wouldn't start.  Told them to check the fuse.... Blown fuse.... new fuse.... same prob.  Switched out pump, finished the job.   Planing a post mortum on the pump tonight or tomorrow.  Anxious to see what went wrong.

By the way.  5850 with 1inch feed and 5/8 inch chem hose running through an accumulator with 30 tips.

Lori sells a nice PVC strainer, that threads onto a PVC fitting = no metal.

That's what I use. Only thing is, nobody seems to be able to get anything from Lori lately? Not even a reply?

Maybe they are going out of business?
