What would YOU do?

Hey guys im on a budget, My question is. Should I get the 12v Delavan system and a trailer? OR. Should I get the All Flow with an air compressor set up and mount in the truck? Correct me if I am wrong ,but seem the 12v pumps do not last as long.

I would buy the All-Flo and compressor. The trailer isn't what you're going to be working with,...it's just a means to transport,...which your truck can do. Set yourself up with what you're going to be working with,..and then go from there.

Ditto on what Jeff said. A few Roof Cleanings under your belt with a few nice paydays and you will be able to add the trailer. You will be glad you did it this way.

Garrett, Nice talking to you the other day.

Make sure that your truck is big enough to carry a full tank or chemical in the bed. SOme shoks cannot stand the weight. If your on a budget, go with the 12v system. Youll easily spend $800-1100 for the air system. But, if you have a lot of cash, buy the air system. ANd if you already have a compressor, but the air system. BUT, If you do not have a lot of cash and a compressor, buy the 12v.

The air systems are great from what ive heard and Im gonna buy one from Lori very soon, BUT, your on a budget and just starting out. Watch your cash reserves in your business or youll end up losing!

Just my thoughts.

I dont see why you couldn't put the delavan or the all-flo on ether a truck or a trailer

there is no reason you HAVE to put on or the other on one or the other

I have had no problems with a delevan I would go with the trailer. I use my pump almost every day with either acid or SH and it starts every morning with no problems

You could go with the delevan in your truck then put that extra money towards getting work. THEN when your rolling go for the all flo on a trailer.

I would buy the trailer and get a 12v. Knock off a cpl roofs and then buy a AF/Compressor and use the 12v as a back up or for chem transfer pump

I think the 12v pumps are probably ok for the guys who have them tweaked and lessons learned. This guy is asking what he should do to start,...My guess is he will also be fixing and fine tuning until he's irritated with it,..like it seems others have been through.

The air system is so trouble free and time can be better spent doing the other things that come with this business,...like protecting the customers' property instead of messing around with a pump that is cycling on and off,...or what ever else they're prone to do.

If he said he could only afford the 12v system,..then that would be one thing,....but he's asking where to spend his available money,...the air system is an option it seems,.....so why not just get get it and have that part out of the way.

Jeff

I agree Jeff, in the long run you will probably save money with the air system. This all depends also on how you care for your equipment.

Bill and Jeff,You are both correct. I do have the money for either set up, just cant afford the trailer with the air set up. Prob going to get the All Flow  and work a few out of my truck at first. Thanks guys.( I wish some of you guys lived closer to me!) So I could learn alittle more hands on.

I am still using Envirospecs $300 roof pump with 200' x 1/4" hose.  A great unit for a beginner who wants to build capital with minimum expense.  Once you have the capital and business improve your system.  The old one can always be a backup.

Wow, 1/4" is really small,...did you mean 3/4" inch.  He doesn't need to build capital. He has the money to start with a more advanced and simpler system. Sounds like he's going to make the right choice and start with something simple.

Hey if the allflow pump is much simpler and will always work and you have the money for it go right ahead! Another thing I need to consider roofs aren't my main enterprise as we are trying to incorporate them into what we have now it could be in the future I would be like the rest of you full timers and go all out with a all flow

Money is the factor. If you can afford it buy the best stuff from the beginning.

All-Flo
tandom trailer or box truck, or flat bed truck.

If you can't afford it,

start out with a back pack, and bleach from the grocery store. after you do a dozen of job grow a bit, do another dozen of jobs and grow a bit more.

If you can't get the money what else are you to do?

what are you to do with no money, please tell me.

I mean really, people are comming here banging their head against the wall trying to figure out how to start a roof cleaning business for under 200.00.

if people would spend as much energy winning people to the Lord as they do trying to put people in the roof cleaning business this world would be alot better place to live in, Amen.

No one is beating themselves up on this issue,I have the money covered. wanting feed back on the better setup, because everyone on this forum asked these same questions at one time. There arent any roof cleaners in this area and I just want to be the best at what I do! I believe I have made up my mind to go with the All Flow and the tandem axle trailer. Thanks for all the input along the way.
