Gettin stuff to start building my trailer tomorow, need help

What do you guys think of the clear braided poly compared to Kuri Tec and yellow ag hose?

Gutter what size trailer did you go with? What size tank you going to work from?

I think im picking up a 6x10 this weekend with a fold down mesh gate, in case i have to pick up the chem's myself, i cant imagine it would be very fun lifting the 55 gal drums onto the trailer.

Im also planning on fabricating some sort of ladder rack to the trailer. and the side mounting the reel, I was thinking about raising it up(2-3') and putting something under it? pump? compressor maybe?

that is harbor frieght trailer I looked them 4x8 if I remember it is nice little starter be carefull that trailer is only wieghted for less than 1000lbs.

maybe put the reel in the back if you can so if you pull in or back in you can go wither way easily? i have a reel on the side of my truck and its not to bad but i think it maybe a lil easier in the back.

from the picture it kinda looks like that trailer might b a little small [at least weight capacity wise]? we bought a 6X10 a few weeks ago at tractor supply and built our rig on it. from reading here, everyone seems to say that weight capacity on the axles is very important especially when paired with the weight of water, sloshing, possible deterioration from repeated exposure to sh and it being a single axle? good luck!

that is a small trailer so becareful as to how much equipment you put on there. I would go with the 12v dlevan setup and maybe a small pressure washer for house cleaning but no more than a 35 to 50 gallon tank. Remember 1 gallon of mix weights about 8.5 to 9 pounds. I would put the tank in the back and the equipment up front.

Thanks for the advice. Yea the trailer is small. I bought it last year then found out its weight capacity. So We see what we can do with it! 50 gallon buffer tank. Delevan setup, some hose reels and my portable bolted to it? Should stay under 1000 pounds. Fixin to head out soon to start buying stuff!

It was suggested to me to put the tank toward the tounge of the trailer. And in here toward the back. I think more weigh forward would be better. Versus toward the back of the trailer. More weigh toward the back of the trailer would give it a whiplash effect? Not the right discription, but I hope I get the thought accross. I'm going to put the hose reels at the back of the trailer. One for house water, one for pressure hose and one for delevan.

So we got 3 hose reels, the water tank for buffer, delevan, and my portable bolted to the trailer. the rest i can carry on the truck.

I belive you want to try to keep the tank(or the bulk of the weight), ontop of the axle, Just like you will have that "whiplash" you can put to much weight on the tongue as well..

keep the tank over the axle....

if it is to the front, it puts more weight on the tounge of the trailer....which is on your truck.

it will pull the tail of the truck down and you will look like you are over weight or you will have the "V" shape.

if it is to the back you will have the opp. effect.

take a look around....you will see. for example look at semi's....all loads need to be centered.

I only know of the clear? I spent as much money as i was gonna spend today. Got a 65 gallon tank and a delevan 2gpm, 60 psi, on demand with viton seals today.

Start with the tank over the axle. Pull the trailer down the road with the tank full. If you get some sway, move the tank just ahead of the axle. I wouldn't mount the tank on the front of that trailer.

Cant find it at the moment, but a few days back someone posted a picture of a 2x4 cage they built around the tanks

Chris is right, you need to move the tank over the axle. Test drive it with water in it. If you feel the the trailer bouncing or pulling backwards a lot, then move the tank slighlty forward. Overall you want most of the weight over the axle. If you put the tank up front on the tongue of the trailer, you might as well put it on the back of your truck.

HI Mike,
As many have said keep the tanks on the axle if at all possible. Remember that fresh SH is 10lbs per gallon and you want it on the trailer not the truck as it is better to let the fresh sh ruin trailer instead of your truck brakes, chasis etc. I would use at least 5/8 pvc type hose like Kuritek or goodyear. Lori has Kuritek, and so does Delmarva rubber and gasket in DE. Lowes has Goodyear PVC hose as well, but it's not any cheaper. The first thing you will discover when cleaning lots of roofs is that the SH gas will destroy everything around it. This includes your pump, wires, tanks, trailer reels whatever. Sooo Keep the pump as far away from the SH holding tank as possible. For such a small rig you will need to make your mix on site if you are going to carry 550lbs of SH on it. You can get by with some regular garden hoses for now, but they will fail pretty quickly. I have found that swan 3/4 rubber hose holds up for a few months. If you go with the poly braid, you will find it kinks very easily and greatly reduces flow which in turn is hard on your pump. If you get the electric pump, rinse it after every job. In fact we rinse our entire rig after every job. If you have some heavy duty rubber mats, glue them down with silicone to protect your axle and decking. Hope all this helps.

Im using a 55. Bring it to job empty, put it outside the truck on the side and work out of it from there with the draw hose. Only problem is if any is left over. But keeps the spilling on driveway or road.

The 65 gallon tank is to act as a buffer. It wont hold any water unless I need it on a job. If the well water doesnt supply enough gpm from the hose bib.

I'm thinking 2 - 15 gallon tanks, for roof mix, to sit on both sides of the 65 gallon. I'll mix the SH in the morning. The pump I was thinking about puting in a battery box? Would that protect it from the SH? All I've bought so far is the 65 golllon tank and the delavan. In a couple of weeks I'll get some more stuff. I've been pricing hose reels last night. I think I'll get those next and plumb it all out!
