My First Order...w/ Questions

You would have to run another wire, but it would stink to finish a job just to find out your truck wont start. Wouldnt make sense to leave your van running the whole time either. Imo

Bob from pressure tek has a video on how to wire the delevan up somewheres over there.

Maybe one of those cheap garden hose reels from lowes or home depot. I dont know how much theyll hold though.

Look around. There are some pics on here of guns guys are using. I was using a pvc gun I made. 6" piece of 3/4, then ballvalve, then 22, then quick connect for 4 way nozzel holder.
Dropped it on the ground and broke it so now Im just using a 1" ball valve with long range nozzel on the end of it.

I have mine hooked directly to a marine battery. I also have a direct wire from the battery in my truck that runs under the truck with a male welders connector. My trailer has the female end the that wiring is attached to the marine battery. My truck, when running and going from job to job is always juicing up my marine battery. I have NEVER had the battery die out. It is always being charged. Be sure to use fuse links before the pump and also a seperate fuse link at the battery in your truck.

Larry thats a great idea i think i am going to try that. i hate taking the batttery down every time and charging it.

ya know come to think of it. Ive seen dump trailers wired where the trailer light plug in charges the battery.

Go to Bob's site. You will find the video.
All you have to do is install a fuse between pump and battery on the positive side. 30 amp for the Fatboy.
Use 10-12ga wire. Not to long
Install a connector at the end of each wire to hook up to battery.
Thighten it down

Sorry to beat a dead horse, I posted a response earlier a few weeks ago on how to wire the battery to charge while running from site to site, also so you didn't have to remove it at the end of the day to charge. Got kind of beat up over it.... being a newbe and all.

Well he goes again, yes you can wire it straight from the truck battery to the tail light connection.., You also need a reset type fuse from the ground post on the battery to a ground in the engine area. OR...... another way if your tow vehicle is 1999 or newer it already has the fuse holder in the fuse box in the engine compartment (the same slot for electric trailer brakes a 40Amp square standard from the factory), just forget the wire and a fuse, use the 7 to 5 way plug in on the bumper for your trailer. Go from the battery to the plug with a quick disconnect plug (I think welders) it uses 10 guage see attachement below. I know this works as I use it towing my boat. Also took a couple of GMC engineers fishing years ago, they went back and started a small side business "still waiting for my first royalty check for giving them the idea" biggrin

I did plan on making some of the plugs for those who want them, but was squashed like a roach, I just kept quiet. ashamed

What do the plugs cost?

Maybe you can go after the GM engineers like the Ford motor intermediate windshield washer wiper guy did. Then you could make a movie about it....dont give up hope yet your check could be in the mail!

Here is a picture of the same exact plug I use. I picked it up at a local welding supply house and I think it was in the neighborhood of about $14.00. Keep in mind. this particular plug connects directly to my truck battery not to my tail lights or any other part of my electical system. A seperate fuse link is also installed right at the before the battery in my truck for added protection against any short etc...The male end hangs near the ball hitch on my truck and the female is right on the tounge of my trailer. It takes 1 second to plug it in while hooking my trailer up. Very easy to use.

not bad...where would I get the wire from to run from the battery at a good price...Home Depot?

Thats where I got mine. I think mine is 10 or 12gage wire.

We are compiling a video using all of the CORRECT tools and equipment for you guys. Captain FRED WINTERS knows how to do it, too. Great advice Larry, Andy, Chris D, Chris A and Bob. You guys are great at helping each other with advice.

We have bits and pieces of video and pics but have not compiled it yet.

I will make a list of parts for all, and where I get them. I'll even make up a few of the 7 to 5 way plugs for those that want them, with instructions on how to connect your pump battery to your vehicle when you are driving. If you use the plug method, a fuse on the positive side of your pump battery is needed for safety.

If you want to wire from the tow vehicle battery to a 2 wire quick connect type plug, I will make a drawing and post it. This way it's plug to plug and you isolate the vehicle wiring but you still need fuses for safety.

The 0050 nozzle you bought works better with the FATBOY 7gpm.

You will be able to shoot roof cleaning chemical further using the 0040 on the 5gpm Delavan pump.

Thank you for the help guys. I have found that no two system is exactly alike. What are your thoughts? I usually recommend a very conservative assortment. Some guys ask me for 15's. It seems small. They say that there pumps are fine and don't grind or cycle on or off. Hmmmm....

Mike, do you use 50's with the Fatboy's? Thank you for the input.

BTW, the two nozzles were FREE!!!!!!
