Used Wilden Air Diapraghm Poly Pumps Arrived Today!

I am very impressed with their build quality, made from SOLID, not glass filled Poly!
These are old Wilden M 1 pumps with brass air valves.
The weight of these is about 3 times a Yamada, for the same 1/2 inch pump.
Gonna put one on one of my roof cleaning trucks, and torture it, see how long it lasts ?
My 5 Yamada Kynar Pumps all need to be rebuilt, again!
These will serve as spares, until the Yamada's come back from the repair shop.

I'm sure you all know this but I will mention it just in case it may interest you

your air pumps can also be converted into an air assisted HVLP sprayer, meaning you can also direct the air flow into the solution hose or add an air line to your wand, why? help pump the solution longer distances, increase air pressure at the nozzle and as foaming is generally based on introducing air in to the solution line, it can also turn your existing air pump in to a foamer! just by adding a couple of extra fittings and a regulator and still use your current spray tips

I know this is a different brand of air pump but the principle is the same http://wwwd.graco.com/Distributors/DLibrary.nsf/Files/308194E/$file/308194E.pdf go to page 5#

I am sure you can see the basic principle of how it all works (delete the spray gun and add your spray wand)

Food for thought

Ya know, I discovered air diapraghms pumps out of sheer desperation, back when we were running 3 roof cleaning trucks around Tampa!
I just happened to wind up with a Yamada poly, it lasted a year, becaise I worked back then, and was anal about rinsing my pumps out asap.
However, I have employees who tell me they rinse, but dont!
So, I went to the Kynar yamada, for longer life, w.o rinsing.
I am not married to yamada pumps, although we own 7 Kynar ones, and 2 polys.
I found the Wildens cheap, and bought them.
I can tell you this, they make the Yamadas llook like Toys!
They are built out of a SOLID blockk of pure poly, unlike the glass filled poly used by most AODD pump manufacturers.
It was Wilden who invented the air diapraghm pump, but he patents ran out.
If you talk to plant engineers, wildens are considered one of the cadilliacs of AODD pumps, and new,, they are not cheap!
I want to try them,  but must wait for a Kynar Yamada to fail first, so it may be awhile.
BUT, we are doing another BIG commercial job, and just finished another one.
Though I dont clean roofs anymore, I still have the burning desire to try new stuff.
So ..... I catch myself hoping the yamadas will take a crap, so I can slap one of these Wildens into roof cleaning sevice ?
Who knows, the poly may leak all over, and the brass air valve may stall ?
But brass in tyhe air valve is not such a bad thing, since it sees only air.
The wildens, like the air flows, do not have the button the yamada has to re set the air valve.
No big deal, just put a valve in the air line, or a quick disconnect, and cut the air to the pump until the air valve re seats!
The newer Wildens have a "nonstalling" air valve, and the old Wilden M 1's I own can be completely retroffitted for little money to the same performance as the newer pumps.
When I talked to Wilden, before I bought their pumps, andtold Them I had Yamada's, he asked everyone in the office to Pray for me.
Wilden looks down their Nose at the Yamada AODD Pumps, and consider them a joke ?
Wilden feels THEY are the kings of the AODD pumps, since they invented them!
They  talk about the Yamadas like a Mercedes salesman trashes a Kia.
Me, I just want to know what is really "the best" AODD pump ?
But, I can tell you this, Yamada pumps have greatly simplified my life as a Tampa Rppf Cleaning Company owner, and teacher of roof cleaning to others.
I will not reccommend to my students what I have not actually used myself.
I do tell others about all flow pumps, based on the experiences of those at RCIA using and loving them.

Great information on the Roof Cleaning Pumps Chris. I do know one thing. I won't ever go back to using 12 volts for Roof Cleaning. Absolutly Love the All Flow Pump that I use now.

I broke down yesterday, and bought some good coffee, for a change.
Both Yamada's still going strong, so I can't tell my guys to switch to the Wilden Pumps yet.
