rig or no rig when selling?

I am planning on passing out fliers this saturday.  I was thinking of using my wife's minivan. (less gas).  Is this a no no? Should i be pulling my rig along with me on my utility van?

Its good to have some sort of signage on your vehicle if possible when you flyer neighborhoods, but many of us are just starting out and dont have signs for the vehicle.
If youre not going to use the rig, I wouldnt tow it along just because of gas costs and
possible damage driving around.

When I'm putting out door hangers or flyers (usually during weekdays) and don't expect to see the homeowner, I don't pull the rig. This only takes one person as I park the truck somewhere in the neighborhood and walk.

When I am knocking on doors (usually Saturday) and expect to talk to the homeowner, I have my wife drive the truck with my rig and follow me around. I want the homeowner to see that I'm not a fly by night guy with a pressure washer in the trunk of my car.

Yea!! get acouple of shirts done with your company name and try to get sime kind of signage
on your vehicle even if they are magnetic signs the reason why?
few months ago my wife and I were shopping and on our way back I asked her to ride around the neirborhood to put some flyers ( no sign on the vehicle no company shirts) guess what?
We got pull over by a police officer!! who question me what I was doing onece I showed him the flyers and explained to him he let us go (with out tickets) and he told us that the reason he pulled us over was because, few days ago some one broke in to a near by house and since I didn't have a sign and company shirts he was just making sure averything was allright!! Have any of you guys had this happening before?

I use flyers on slow weeks in the summer. I have many different roof prices, preprinted, with an explanation of my service and qualifications.
I have a fairly well known name around here [ i'm actually, by far the oldest pressure cleaning company in town and one of a very few non pressure roof cleaners and i've done no pressure roof cleaning since 1991. Still, I expect about 1 job for every 70 - 100 flyers and as I said, they are not placed generically, I use a specific flyer for a specific roof, based on size, condition, gutters or no gutters, plants to tarp / water etc etc
I think, with the cost of gas putting out flyers, the $ might be better spent on a small yellow pages ad?
I'm not thrilled with flyer response. no

Oh, and no, I don't carry my rig with me.
I believe you would get more jobs, walking to 20 doors and talking to people, than you'd get from 100 flyers!
In fact, I feel sure of it-if you can present yourself well and know your stuff?

We use magnetic signs when we put out flyers (doorhangers). I'm not sure about most locations, but I do know here in Daytona Beach, you are not permitted to go door to door without a solicitors permit. Normally they are good for a one time event. Door hangers have worked well for us. On the top of our hanger it states complimentary estimate and or information. We can estimate it and leave it on the door or just leave it on the door AND HOPE THEY CALL. I expect a ratio of 10 calls for 100 door hangers. Out of the 10 calls I would like to get the 10 jobs, but we all know that doesn't always happen.  We also adopted the cloverleaf marketing many years ago. If we do a cleaning we tag the doors directly across from and the 2 on either side. Every job, everytime. Even if the roof is clean because rest assured, they know of someone who could use our service.

We tag doors weekly in different neighborhoods. If for nothing else, we plant the bug and soon they cannot stop looking at their roof. It becomes nature to them.

Personally, I can't tell you what color my neighbors houses are or if they have flowers are not, but I can tell you if their roof is dirty or not.  I'm no different than any other homeowner who has had the seed planted.

Like I said in an earlier forum. If you want the work, chances are you'll have to go get it, it won't walk up and sit in your lap.

GET THAT NAME OUT THERE AND KEEP IT OUT THERE.
