Hi guys,
Hope all are well. Havent been on here for a while.... have had trouble trying to clean our standard sydney 60 yr old terracotta roof tile with the apple cider..SO MUCH LICHENS.. even tried straight 12.5% SH on a trial section of my roof....took about a week to loosen it.
I have been looking into the lafferty foamers...good to see you guys are are well advanced in this area...also would be great for sandstone..decks etc

Nick,

If your looking for a foamer try Dema www.dema.com.au/Foaming.html I have been waiting to call them and ask some questions my self as soon as every one goes back to work.
these things are only $100 in the USA http://www.demaeng.com/product.php?id=54&catid=26

http://www.dultmeier.com/prod-search.asp?searchString=foamer&searchMethod=E

I phoned the Aussie dealer for Lafferty foamers, the HV foamer that sells for around $450 in the states they wanted $1,800 for it here, I told them they were dreaming, I could buy one in the states ship it to Australia for about $500, been thinking about it.

also been thinking about the foamer carts, although they only have small tanks foam expands the water 15 to 20 times so it will still cover a lot of area, may be even have say 70% SH 30 % water in the cart, been playing around trying to make my own foamer, still have not got it right yet, I can get foam but it spits and splutters (a work in progress)

If I could get one of those Dema foamers for $100 I would buy one straight away, even it it did not work for roofs at that price I would use it to wash my car

Just another quick note about the foamer mentioned. if you use your standard pump and pump the SH & water mix from your tank to the "water inlet" you could use the detergent injector to add the surfactant or hydroxide or what ever else you want to add to the mix in smaller quantaties, most use 3/4 hose already, all you would need extra is the foam wand and you would have a setup that could do "foaming as well as standard spraying". especially those that run AOP air pumps and already have a compressor onboard.

total setup cost for those in the states around $150 (foamer body + wand) ???? worth a try ???? you never know guy's it could open up a whole new world to you

Hi all,
I ran across these foaming guns, some for water hose, for air and for pressure washers.  Some of you pro's might check them out.

I have used a foamer for metal roofs for 2 years, I use a truck wash product. I have also tested the foamer with the air compressor, it will shoot shaving cream foam 50 to 60'. The system uses a 55 gal drum of SHC and a one gallon surfactant that produces the foam. The surfactant is expensive. Can do any roof, concrete or wood or house washing. It has a metered station that automatically mixes the correct percentage that you dial in.

Hello Roy!
If you could, post a pic of it, or a video ?
I was told by a foaming company that wet foam, vs shaving cream foam is better ?
Said it has better penetration.
They are working on a dual line foamer just for roof cleaning.
Stay tuned !!!

It is obvious that you guys have tried foamers before. I used these type of foamers in the business I used to be in (food industry) and did not care for them then. Although I am new to this business I don't think they will foam any better than what is accomplished now. The models we used only sprayed about 15-20 feet and you would need to spray at your feet if there was any wind at all. They needed constant adjustment and rebuilt quite often just by using the soaps that were developed for it. Trying to put the love through it I would think would only make them even more prone to maintenance and cost prohibitive. Now with that being said, I also need to say that they were 15 years old and I'm sure improvements have been made. I just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in for you.

I could just see foam blowing all over a neighborhood, Had a helper fill up my tank once.He didn't stick the hose down in the tank and filled it with foam while I was around back.Kinda looked like when we filled fountains with powdered soap when we were kids.

Just thinking out loud,...considering the foam is mostly air,.would the mix be concentrated enough to even clean a roof?
