Good Mornin' Clyde,
Good Thought and Question and a smart thing to consider over morning coffee?
Let me respond from my perspective.
Clyde, you have been a member of the RCIA a relatively short time and as such you did not see how this board began, where it came from and how it developed
That is why, before you came on the RCIA, the members voted unanimously to close the forum to Google and other search engines, except for the pictures and certified areas.
This is what the A-R-C-A American Roof Cleaners association was built around, what the roof cleaning members wanted, requested and voted for.
Its exactly what we have done over at the A-R-C-A.
We will never have the website traffic or super high Google rankings of a completely open forum like the RCIA but but that is not what the MAJORITY of roof cleaners wanted anyway when we all came on as members in the first place.
At the American Roof Cleaners Association, what I have done is what the MAJORITY of voting, founding RCIA members wanted which was a forum that receives traffic in certain areas and not in others like the members only areas.
It is really hard to have both but we are trying and even though we don't get the foot traffic like the RCIA we still get SEARCHED regularly by the major search engines in the CERTIFIED areas and the PICTURES areas, which is where we ALL need the TRAFFIC anyway.
The goal of the A-R-C-A is a little different, we prefer to go with the forum and association model of member quality, rather than quantity and we feel that those that want a different experience will post on BOTH forums as it is clear that EACH forum has its merits and attributes, its positives and negatives.
We realize we can't please everybody and we are not trying to.
It is an individual choice as to what info you want out in the public eye and what info you want to be kept private, it is up to each roof cleaning contractor to choose which is best for them and their business?

I just password protected the In The Shade part of this forum. My old Mazda Miata Convertable with a small blok Chevrolet in it was fun to drive!! But, ony room for two. Everything is a compromise, and I will not compromise our google ranking to "protect secrets" This IS the information age, and roof cleaning methods are floating all over the Internet Google ranks sites for content. If we close ourselves, kiss the high Google ranking, and the jobs that come from it Bye Bye ! My only goal is to train and certify roof cleaners, I make my living cleaning roofs in Tampa. I aim to get MY RCIA guys work, and several will attest they have got plenty of work off this forum. Yes, it IS a public forum, except the In The Shade part of it. So, act and post civilized, at least in the PUBLIC parts of it. It is NO different from several other forums, they are open too.
IS it too much to ask people to post carefully on the public parts on this forum ?
And really, do you really THINK that just because you post "secrets" on a "Closed Forum" they will REMAIN "secrets" ROTFLMAO !!!!
Chit, I have SEEN people taking knowledge off CLOSED forums, and posting it EVERYWHERE as "their own"
If you want to KEEP a freaking "secret" then keep your cotton picking mouths SHUT, tell No One.
For once you tell ANYONE else, even on a "closed forum", it is no longer a "secret" LOL
HTF do you KNOW that your "buddy" on a closed forum don't have a brother in Law in YOUR HOME TOWN ? Chit, the next thing you know, you are facing a fully blown Apple Vari Flow rig with Amonyx LO right in YOUR own backyard !!!
Folks, competition is always gonna be there, the cat is out of the bag!
ANY pressure wahing supply place will set up any prospective roof cleaner that has the money, no forum reading required !!
I suggest to we spend time concerned with OUR own roof cleaning businesses.
This ARCA promotional stuff needs to stop, please ? The link is there for anyone wanting to post on both forums, everyone knows about it by now. All I see happening recently has been perhaps unintentional bashing of RCIA. Please quit. RCIA is not "just a blog", it is a roof cleaning training and certification forum. The first of it's kind It has no ambitions to be anything but a FREE place where folks can come, learn roof cleaning, get certified, and GET WORK from our high Google Ranking. Donations are entirely VOLUNTARY. I have :raked in: under 2000.00 since the forum stated, and paid out close to that. I have probably "made" about 800.00 in all the time I spend here. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa does 2000.00 Gross on MANY days, w/o all the BullChit. My Pay Pal records are OPEN to anyone who asks. I GUESS I could charge people for consultations, training videos, etc, etc, etc ? But I have NEVER charged anyone in 15 years teaching roof cleaning, aint gonna start now. It aint all about money people, it is about KARMA. I help people, and I get helped, real simple. That is the LAW of the Universe. It has worked for me once I learned about it.
People are FREE to post here, or not. And, if ya Aint happy here, find the Door ?
