12V Delavan Fatboy relays failing, possible adjustment screw attention needed?

Has anyone come up with a solution to overheating relays for the Fatboy?  I am using 5\8" hose.  The first time it happened, the contacts melted inside the relay.  I havent adjusted the pressure switch adjustment screw, because the pump seems to be shutting on and off properly.  Bob from PressureTek suggested that this may have been the problem with the first one.  I'm not sure how to adjust these pumps, or if that is even needed in my case. (I know HOW to adjust, just don't know what to listen for, etc. to know if it is set properly).

Any help with the relays or adjustment screw settings would be helpful.

Thanks!!

I been having the same problem with my Fatboy. I went through 3 relays this season. The last one I let it cool down then tap it & it works fine for a time. I`ve adjusted it every way I can. Don`t know what to do next. Any HELP? Thanks Kipp

The original reley on my fatboy melted like butter after about a month. Replaced it with a automotive relay from NAPA.  I bought two at the same time so I would have a back up if needed. After seven months the first Napa switch is still going strong.

I was going to answer this question but it looks like it has already been answered. LOL... The answer in red is the ticket to keeping that Roof Cleaning pump running.

when you run your 12volt pumps dose the pressure switch click in and out continually or do they run smooth?

You want the pump to be a constant smooth running flow without cutting on and off as possible. The smaller the tip, the more it will cycle on and off. There is an Allen screw that can help with making a better adjustment for smoother operation but you need to use bigger orifice tips.

Read the 12V Delavan FATBOY thread.

If you follow it exactly, you won't have any problems.
