Has anyone used a sealer of any sort to help in granule loss? We have a customer who has called searching for a method to possibly slow down his granule loss. He asked if I could apply Thompsons water seal. I've never heard of this and am not sure even if it will make a difference. Thought I'd seek out a little help before I give him an answer. As always, I told him I didn't know, but I would find out and get back to him.
Thompson's chemical compound disclosure says that Thompson's is 75-80% naptha. As a rather strong petroleum solvent, I can't imagine that would do good things, given the oil content of shingles.
