Don, You definitely have one of the most interesting bio's I've seen
Overspray can cause a variety of problems. We combat those problems by keeping everything that the spray will come in contact with wet while we are spraying. As long as you keep it wet, you will not have any problems.
Overspray needs to be as controlled as possible so you don't end up hitting things that you would not expect to, but an attentive ground guy watering the surroundings will keep you from damaging things.

Thanks Brian. I'm familiar with the duties of the ground person. I probably should have been more specific with my question. Take (aluminum) skylights for example (lots of em around here in PA)... Can my ground guy rinse them without also diluting the mix around and below the skylights where the algae tends to be at its worst?
Is it also necessary to rinse vinyl siding? I've seen houses that could use a "shot" of Love on a small section of siding. Would it be safe to let it sit?
In defense of my bio - I've got two words..... "HEAD TRAUMA"

As long as you wet the sky light, aluminum or whatever, it will be ok. The area that gets wet around the skylight will still come clean. The chemical will be diluted a bit, but it will still clean the algae.

You guys are awesome. Thanks so much. I'll take your word that simply pre wetting the aluminum skylights and/or flashing then rinsing them afterwards, will be "enough". I'll assume that I may simply need to go back over those areas of the roof that may have been diluted by my groundman. I'm excited and a little nervous to see for myself how all of this works.
P.S. I have a GIANT head but, my brain is kinda tiny.

Before I arrive at a job I like to give my customers the basic rundown as to how we will proceed with the cleaning. During that "briefing", I tell them that I will be using their water. If they have an issue with that for whatever reason (sometimes they have a shallow/dry well), they will bring it up then.
Keep in mind that I'm referring to Water Fed Pole window cleaning (which uses quite alot of water). I've only needed to bring my own water once as a supplement. Roof cleaning can sometimes use a little more water than what I'm used to though.
At about 8 pounds per gallon, I wont carry extra water around with me if I can avoid it.
It's a great day for roof cleaning and window washing here in Montgomery, Bucks County Pennsylvania.

OK Thanks. That brings up another question. I get the impression that some guys rinse the roof after application. Others seem to not rinse. In either case, what do you do with the runoff? What about houses without gutters?
I know that some guys set up sprinklers to cover specific areas of a house which would take away that all important water pressure from the ground man. I'm guessing that this would be a good time for a second pump and a 250 gallon water tank???

You could do that or just ask the homeowner if they would mind if you used their facets. Most people are more than happy to let you use them; heck, some even let you use their hoses!!
It is awfully heavy to carry that amount of water around.

Actually, I was referring to the home owner's water pressure. Too often, their water pressure can't handle two sprinklers and a ground guy's nozzle.
I've never seen a fat boy in action so I wonder if it would be enough to spray gutters and the like from 30+ feet away. I agree that it would be lousy to carry around more water than absolutely necessary. I had a water pressure at a house just last week that couldn't even reach the gutters and there was no other water running anywhere in the house.
