As a new guy around here, I certainly appreciate all the info everyone has shared with me and the info I am able to look up searching different topics. It is an amazing resource to me.
LIKE MANY HAVE COME HERE BEFORE ME with no prior knowledge of the business, I am reading and learning. But thats where things are getting weird here. Lately there have been people who learned everything they know rite here, wanting to shut the board down or start charging people. Greed?

How can you come here and learn from these guys and then tell them (once you start your roof cleaning business) to change everything. Its like.."OK, I know how to do this now. Your stupid if you dont shut this board down because someone else may learn to do this around me and I dont want the stress or competition." If people in the Florida market felt that way the board would have been shut down 200 times by now.
And this is information you can find on other boards....for free. I like this one the most and it is the most active and people seem to be pretty helpfull. But I've been on other sites that discuss Apple cider, pumps, chem sources, rigs, technique etc..... Its out there if you look for it. So why make this site paid. To chase everyone away? Yes, definitely charge $100 or more for certification. That makes sense.
And I understand there are lowballers that come on here. But they end up screwing themselves in the end. I dont know how anyone would let someone clean their roof without insurance anyway.
So.. remember where you came from and how you learned roof cleaning.
Although, I too am fairly new to this site and thought I knew pretty much everything about the roof cleaning business. There is not a single sight out there that I have found that offers us as roof cleaners the wealth of information, knowledge and business sense. I have been in this business and must say very successful at it since 1991. Each time I log in I gain additional KNOWLEDGE. As far as competition. I welcome it. It allows you the opportunity to not only prove yourself, but prove to your clients that your are not a professional roof cleaner, but a professional who happens to be in the roof cleaning business. I have re-visited several postings made here recently and have noticed there is a focus on how others are running their business. Those who lowball or attempt to do roof cleaning without the proper knowledge and credentials. Those who are doing that are not competition and will not be a threat to you or any other professional on this site. Regardless of your location. They will not survive. My hat is off to those who spend countless hours researching and making this information available to us. You are not required to pay, it is a site of donations. I do agree with those who have made suggestions that you should be required to produce business license and proof of insurance before being allowed to access this sight. Other sights..FREE ....... RCIA......PRICELESS
This has been talked about many many times and most say make it a paid site and i agree , if there is an introduction before paying so the newbie sees whats going on and if they are interested $50- 100 up front , i gave $100 when we first spoke about this and i feel the people that run this should get something out of it they do a lot of work, would any one like to come home after cleaning roofs all day and have to answer 10-20 emails not to mention 20-30 phone calls a week from nobodies , i say keep the drifters OUT

if were paying a financial expert for his advice i would have to pay top dollar... i think it should be the same for the professional and expert advice found on this forum...
i would be more than happy to pay some kind of fee to retain my membership...

This will be a closed association eventually, after the busy season and after Chris can be a part of it. Please hang on and remember your strongest competition is yourself.
I think that making this a paid site will make the site better. I do not think it will affect anyone who wants to learn the ropes. In fact I think it will only serve to better the education made available here. For those of us who received free training here I, for one, will continue to post my expieriences and knowledge freely. It is not a fee for the information found here but a source of income to provide a more powerful training tool.
