I have been reading posts on this site for about 4 months and been cleaning roofs for about 6 months.  I have tried every chemical I believe that has been advertised on the web and have struggled.  When I read these posts it seems you guys have it together. When "love" is mentioned are we talking about the apple cider mix?  I would really like for things to get easier, I think there is a real future in this business?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I have a udor pump I believe all the right equipment.

Pat thanks for clearing that up for me, Its taken awhile to ask the question, I felt like I was missing something.  I read the blog on what everyone uses, so I'm off to look for a supplier of fresh SH.  Thanks again

A buddy of mine has an RV he wants to sell and he says it has black mold growing on it. I am heading out to see what I can do with it. I will get pics and let you all know. I think I will need to be careful of window seels and other rubber parts.

I would think there would be a great market on the RV side of things if something would workout for ya.  I imagine our Raystown Lake member has had to have some experience with this.

Be careful on the RV start out with a weak solution on a small spot first. Then you can adjust mix from there.

Rv's aren't worth messing with for me. They are typically not kept up wit by the owner and the mildew that gets into the rubber seals can be next to imposssible to remove, especiallty if you're looking for it to be easy.
And Pat's right about the paint, oxidizes very badly and will come off with even basic soaps. Also find that these people think $50.00 bucks is about what they want to spend, because they can just do it themselves otherwise. Needless to say, I don't advertise for Rv cleaning,...in fact I usually turn them down when I get a call about one.

I'm with Jeff about this.  I have done several in the past when I use to detail cars, boats, RV's and the alike.  It never seemed to be worth my time (though I was geared for it). I had a hard time getting people to pay me what the service was worth for the same reasons.  BUT, I'd never discourage a guy from making money or trying new things, so go try it on Pat!

Patrick,

I'm getting started too. Thanks for your posts... very helpful for this newbie.

I started w/ a neighbor's house for free last week. As the apple sauce did it's thing, he kept walking around gawking and repeating, "It's amazing! It's already getting cleaner." I had to go back yesterday and redo a section of the roof that was very dirty (it was under some crepe myrtles' shade). I added some alcohol to the mix and it did a great job... again, my neighbor kept saying "It's amazing!". After a quick rain shower yesterday, he called me to say, "It's already clean..It's amazing!".

So, my first job has turned out real good. I've contacted another RCIA member in another state and he has agreed to 'show me the ropes' and what he has learned in his first year in the business. He can't say enough about all he has learned from RCIA....tells me that he reads the site every morning. So, in a few days I'm headed to his place to work for free while learing as much as I can...(Thanks, Chris and Al).

I'm following in your footsteps...good luck to us both.

Read, read, read, and ask questions, I thought I had read all of it, and come to find out I didn't do enough homework.......

I love the rig pictures because it gives you an idea of what people are using, some bare bone operations to high dollar operations, all making money......

Plus expect to spend some money, I'm at $2k and haven't done a roof yet....confuse
