Where do you start??

I have cleaned a few houses and even a couple of roofs.  I am very interested in starting part-time and then going full-time with my son.  I have looked over your forum, but I only get bit and pieces here and there.  Is it all written in one place that I may be able to study it.  I, am a perfectionist and want to learn the correct way to do it.  Where do I find the formula for cleaning solution.  Please help.

Hi and welcome Bob,

search for apple cider sauce in the search bar on the forum and search for starter rig. It is all in here just not organized like you said. Make that search bar your new best friend and post as you build so others can catch any mistakes you are making. The more you show your work and rig building the more this forum can help. confuse Bobby welcome to the forum, you should read all the topics and get the knowledge from everyone on here , you just can't ask where the roof cleaning chemical mix is and think your going to go clean a roof and do it right , you gotta crawl before you walk

Welcome to the forum Bob, There is a world of knowledge here. Learn all aspects of the business, SAFETY, rig setup, chems, SAFETY, marketing/sales, Etc. Ooohhhh...... did I mention SAFETY...... There are many things that you need to be aware of when ROOF CLEANING. Some are common sense, but probably overlooked alot. Just some examples: When hauling a lot of water / chems be sure to have brakes on your trailer, and be sure the are setup correctly. Liquid gets heavy quick and is alot different then carrying dead weight, as it moves around, and can give you a "pulsating" pushing effect when you stop hard or fast. Ask Chris Tucker.... he has a story about a 60mph quick stop on one of his trucks.... eyepopping.gif I could only imagine....... Also wear an approved VOC type respirator, or you could find out the hard way in the middle of a roof why you should have had one. You will be dealing with many different chems, and you need to know the reactivity of these chems. Be careful with used tanks, know what was in them, and if it is compatible with the chems you will use. These are just a few points, I have learned here. Search for these items and you will learn and understand more then my quick descriptions.
I am just putting together my rig, I will be posting pictures, descriptions, and costs to help anyone else that is new to the business. I just got my compressor on Mon., and my pump came in yesterday. I will be setting up the trailer through next week. Look for the post. I hope this post can help point you to the real info from the veteran ROOF CLEANERS on this forum. Good luck to you and your son in the business.

Welcome Bob,

You will learn a lot here if you study and take the advice of some of the many posts and put your thinking cap on. Lots to learn and only so much season left, get yourself educated by using the Home page to navigate and read every topic and every post.

Keep a note pad and sharpened pencil and pen handy. Make a list of all the questions you cannot answer thru the search feature. Most answers are here already.
