Phone book ads do work if you are the dominant display ad.

They pay for themselves over time but make sure you are in the "RIGHT" phone book.

This job is strictly a phone quote that I converted to a cleaning by making a friend and asking the RIGHT questions, and backing it up by sending her to my BLOGS which answered and clarified any GREY areas.

Nice Homeowner that was standoff "ish" but warmed up once we started to talk about HER needs and expectations. I LISTENED until she explained herself and her NEEDS then responded by simply providing her with the info she wanted.

She had lots of questions about non-pressure and said that is what attracted her to the ad and to make the call.

You must be in the phone book that is the preferred book for your area.

I have made the mistake of going with the "other" books that charge less but if they aren't being read or used then what good are they?

With many knockoff books out there it is making it harder for the customer to find you so by researching your local area and asking other business owners in the painting and pressure cleaning trades which phone book do they get work out of and which books are a waste of time, you will save yourself money and get calls and work.

MAKE SURE you are using the book that the PRIMARY phone company in your area is publishing.

That is KEY is that along with a properly sized ad based on your competition, ALSO make sure it is clearly readable and "full of info" and a "call to action" WITHOUT being too cluttered.

The overall details:

This will be a fairly easy one. North side Primarily. Ranch Style single story 7 year old roof. 2,000 sq. ft. Bid $425.00- Two men- 3-4 hours or less. Minimal landscaping. Roll out and roll up.

I will post pictures of this one.

I hope this helps some of you.

All the Best,

David
