All I have found locally is 10% sh.  Would 10% be the same as 12.5% if I mixed it with less water?

Pretty much, you got the right idea. But try and keep looking for a better supplier.

Steve I found my12.5 SH at a janitorial suppy store. 55 gal $160.00 no barrel deposit & they will give me $ 8.00 return per barrel. They want to cut me a deal on 4 barrels. I live in Bowling Green KY. How about going in on some? Each barrel has a package date. My last one was 5/5. Fresh & hot.

10% FREE CHLORINE- 12% by volume- This is what you are most likely getting.

This is STANDARD ISSUE roof cleaning "LOVE tonic" .

Most people get confused and think if it is 10% it is not going to be effective.

10% FREE CHLORINE means AVAILABLE CHLORINE. 12 percent by VOLUME (overall) Look at the FINE PRINT or ask these specific questions and you will probably find I am correct.

The ratio of SH will work just fine as Long as it is FRESH and turns white and gets warm when rubbed between your index and thumb. Rinse it off your skin with CLEAR WATER when done as it can cause skin reaction, especially in sensitive people or if rubbed into your eye accidentally Be SAFE rather than SORRY.

Using the other additives such as TSP,(creates a harsh environment for the algae not to be able to live in) BORAX (TREATMENT so roof has a residual cleaning effect over time), Surfactant, (CLING, DWELL or HAND TIME) and/ or alcohol (ACTIVATOR) will help with the treatment and the longevity of the cleaning

Just mix at the same rates as posted for Apple Sauce or Cider/Sauce (my favorite now)

Hope this Helps :)

All the Best,

Dave

Mine is 12.5% by wieght and 15% by volume, syill not sure what that means. Maybe that is the free chlorine deal. I have a guy that brings me free 25% from his factory sometimes and it is way way stronger.

Formula for strength.
Example:
25gallons chemical/Total Mixture 100 gallons=0.25x10%=2.5% strength
If you are using 12.55 substitute with the 10%. You can also figure it by lbs.
