Rinsing question?

I have read all about the suggestions for rinsing but I have one question that maybe would be a better way of doing this.

My idea is to get started with a 5 gallon bucket and add the stuff they sell at the pet stores to eliminate chlorine from the water and run that through the pump and hose thus rinsing and nutralizing any SH left in the hose.

Any thoughts? Before starting up again run regular tap water though system again and 2 this may be a better way to winterize instead of using it as a daily thing.

confuse I think you'll be fine by just rinsing with fresh water , if you rinse enough there should no SH left in the hose and if there was a small amount it will be weakened to the point of don't worry about it

Why ask Why? Just trying to be helpful here.  In most cases you do not need to rinse. If you get enough chemical to the roof, good coverage, the rest will take care of its self...

On the other hand kill two birds with one hose I mean stone...aww

Re wet with a water hose and a good Gilmore Applicator... Mine shoots two stories and beyond from the ground.  No Pressure Cleaner needed!

Re Wet = Re Activate... Also does a light rinse...yawn

On the other hand I wish I could invest in a simple man lift!!!!!!aww
Right now I only use / have needed so far is a 6',22' and a 28' ladder...

Can't do a 48' ladder.  Not enough Butox! I am only 162lbs. soaking wet...

I want a Man Lift and a new Cannon 35mm SLR Camera. This little digital works good for house pics but I like to shot nature and sports...

I can still dream!blankstare  One Day!!!

Not only do you get a light ...ehhhh ,  nice rinse you also re activate the SHC already on the roof.  If is dry it stops working. So re wet everything at least once with water. It will save you time and work. See any black streaks re applicate... What?  5 to 10 min more work???  Maybe?  Maybe Not! Just depends...

Now in some cases really bad black stained roofs you made need to rinse and do another application...rinse~~~ another application... untill you get it right...

Not only has to look good to you but most important to your client!

Just depends? What do you see. Is your roof clean and free of black streaks?  Is there still some browning?  You make the call. Most cases no rinse is necessary...biggrin

Re Wet = Re Activation of SHC

SHC is the Bomb. The Love!smile

SO far, water seems ok for me. If you can get all kynar pumps you will have even less to worry about.

I'm a fan of the KISS method - in so far as more overhead can create more hassle than it's worth.

Might be worth trying on what you catch in the downspout bags before dumping. I have a tank at home and will get some test strips and try this before dumping. May be something to get around home owner concerns.

It will be interesting to see what you find.
I have been using the same Delavan since last year and only rinse with water. Admittedly, I haven't done that many roofs, but I still haven't had any problems with just water rinse.

I address homeowner concerns by letting them know we pre-wet everything and rinse their landscaping thoroughly before we leave the job.

James from memphis.........if you see black streaks after your first application and you are re applying...rinsing and re applying......you are wasting time and valuable solution......When I am finished with the roof and I see a black streak...it takes a minute to get rid of it........and Im on my way....P.S. water works great through the pump after every job i run a 5 gal pail through it!

GOOD Point !!
Yes, the roof cleaning solution can be re activated by using a water hose and rinsing the roof down a little on the still dirty spot !!!
But just a LITTLE.
Rinse too much and you will have to respray the missed spot with new chemical.

There is an "art" to doing this biggrin

The Chlorine Neutralizer is Sodium Thiocianate - forget about it no

Just use pleanty of water - TASTE the water after you rinse ?

If it aint salty - you are done !

Like Larry said - The chlorine dries to salt - you cant neutralize salt - just  rinse it well.

Yea I forgot about the sodium part of that and was concentrating on the hyprchlorite part reducing the chlorine. Salt can do as much or more damage as chlorine it just takes longer.

Is that even if you are going to another job right away, or just if you are done for the day?
