That is a good idea. I didn't have any tarps with me that day. I don't take them unless I know I'm going to have to use them. I probably couldn't have used the tarp in that situation anyhow because the landscaping was too overgrown around that downspout. I also like the idea of the orange snow fence. That would be an easier way to handle a heavy bag.

Put the bags in a 5 or 6 gallon bucket, makes life easier.

I grabbed a bunch of free pails from the local bakery and I cut a slot on the back of them about 3 inches down to slide the downspout over, just a thought! wink

Once you've collected the run-off, where is a "safe" place to dispose of it? Field, lake, stream, etc...?

I just don't want to be getting into any legal issues with the EPA.

I'm going to collect about 5 gal. and use it to clean driveways later on. The SH level is not a big deal for concrete

You better do a test before you try cleaning concrete. That stuff is dirty. I'd think it would stain the concrete. Have you tried it yet?

Avoid dumping it into waterways, that will get you in trouble and kill fish from chlorine shock. In the woods near the home or in a gravel driveway works as it can break down there without effecting plants. Your local waste water treatment will probably take it as well.

Might have to contact the local waste water dept. Being in a city not much woods around, and most have concrete driveways.

I imagine it is ok for storm drains? I mean people around me empty their pools every year right into the street.
That being said why the heck not get drain pipe and run them to the street might be a bit of an investment but it should last ya. Or you could get the drain hose that they use for pools and use that.

The amount emptied from a pool is not even close to what you will be getting rid of.Don't empty into any sewer or drain.

I just dump it into a gravel driveway when possible or pour onto a fence line or anywhere else weeds are an issue.
Cleaning concrete with it isn't a bad idea, I really don't think it would stain concrete, especially if it's rinsed before it would be allowed to dry. Recycling at it's finest.

yes as long as the concrete is wet the strong roof cleaner wont leave clean spots.
