Our local Evansville Home Show is coming up April 3,4 and 5, less than a month away! We will have a booth there, right by entry #2, which is usually the busiest entrance. We have donated a "Complete Exterior Home Makeover Package" for The Home Show Sweepstakes, which lends to us the benefit of being on all advertising materials, and being announced over the P.A. system every hour. We have a few whacky things planned that are sure to generate alot of attention from attendees and media. And, we have a monster of a FREE giveaway planned. We will focus primarily on our No-Pressure Roof Cleaning, Deck Cleaning and Staining, and SoftWashing. We may market some more on our commercial side as well. The Evansville Home Show historically hosts around 15,000 to 16,000 attendees, all looking for ways to improve their property. I expect both homeowners and business owners to be there, including PM's, GM's, and all other decision makers. The Great News: We will be the ONLY cleaning company of any kind exhibiting.
Sounds like you will get A LOT of exposure from this! I almost did a big show in Cleveland this year but decided to spend the money in other places. Let me know what kind of response you get from it. What kind of setup do you have? videos? Pictures?
We're going to have a very good display setup, with vinyl printed posterboards, B&A pictures, and the actual 5800 running, just to make a little noise. Last year, at the start of the season, we wasted alot of money treading down advertising avenues that didn't produce. So, this year, I'm taking that same amount of money and putting our name and services right in the faces of the people who need it the most.

I used to walk around Home Shows in Tampa, and pass out cards offering FREE Roof Cleaning Demonstrations - No Obligation! Worked VERY well. Funny thing though O'Bryan, I NEVER did a free roof cleaning demo w/o landing the whole roof cleaning job I LOVE cleaning roofs in Tampa
Hey fellow roof cleaners. I've been away for a few days doing the Evansville home Show. Mediocre turnout, but now we have about 50 estimates to do this week! These were not solicited. These are for qualified customers who came looking for us. Learned alot about what to do, and what NOT to do next year. Overall, I can say the booth fee is substantiated by the expected return we will get.

Excellent Job Kevin!!! I hope you had alot of fun rounding up those 50+ customers. You have inspired me to look into this myself. We had planned to do our own event but the cost seems to be way to high to get the word out.
I am really glad it worked for you, Thanks again for sharing this inspiring experience.
Bill, home show exhibitors MUST know what to expect. I was very realistic in our expectations, and hoped for 30 qualified estimates. We got 23, all qualified. We had others who wanted an estimate, but they were not qualified, so they took our cards, flyers, etc. People will not flock to your booth and sign up for same day service. but, the cost was substantiated by education, leads, and jobs we have already closed. 15,000 people came by my booth, but only about 1,000 actively participated in something we had to offer, i.e. home show giveaway, estimates, flyers, pens, magnets, etc. Today alone, we closed $2200 in roof jobs, all from the home show. Here's the catch:
These were not folks who signed up for an estimate. these are folks who spoke with me and after being educated on PROPER roof cleaning, realized that not all roof cleaners are toothless hillbillies. So, on top of the other 23 qualified estimates we must give, we have already covered more than our cost for the booth.
Qualified Estimate: A potential customer who has been explained, in detail, the process, procedure, and potential cost of our services, and is still interested in having the service performed, while understanding that we are professionals and we charge accordingly.
If you are just getting started, you will find that at times, there will be people who expect you to clean their roof for $99. Whatever you do, NEVER lower your standards.
And a quick FYI for those interested: NEVER again will we do a home show or trade show. IMO, there are a million other forms of advertising that are much more cost effective and will produce a much more favorable ROI.
Kevin Thanks for the info! we have a home show coming up in my area, and seriously thought about doing it. I'm 60 miles from you in the great place Of Washington,In I've been cleaning roofs now going on 5+ years. Business keeps getting better and better . BUT i just saw where a hardware store in my area is advertising big time, a product that you spray on with garden hose attachment and let the rain rise it off "big ole display in there store. They are selling this stuff for about $ 40.00 a gallon supposed to cover 2000sq ft after mixing, " very frustrating" If you only new all the time and effort i've put into promoting Roof cleaning. I tell you what, i wish you the best of luck, because i no E-ville is covered in black streaks, there everywhere. You could give me some "LIKE " on my facebook page A+Cleaning/Painting Services. And I'll do the same for you as well as the rest of you who respond. I charge any where form .22 to .26 a sq ft thats cheaper than a carpet cleaners who is getting .30 sq ft "my point lets not start bring these prices down any further" we can't give this service away. Have a good Day
Steve, I've gotten 4 calls from Washington this year already. All 4 have had their roof cleaned previously, and were totally dissatisfied with whoever did it, apparently these guys are some real losers, very unprofessional. I'll send them your way from now on.
The stuff the hardware store is selling does NOT work, even after the 4-6 month wait time they promote. Hire some kid to give out your card to anybody that buys it. They will be calling. Gary
Interesting! I know it wasn't A+ Cleaning because out of the 100's of roofs I have done, I can think of 1 roof where the black streaks are coming back. "no BS" And that was one of my first roofs over 5+years ago. I'm dealing with one cleaning out fit thats been in business for over 20+ years who's got everything wraped up "banks, Hotels, Jasper etc... I see that c*** sucker everywhere and he Uses a pressure washer "low pressure" so he says." his roofs look like S**t so I'd say its probably him, that has did these roofs. You know Washington isn't that big of a community. And on the same note I've had a some call from E-ville "now its been awhile couple of years ago" Looking to have there roof cleaned, But thats to far of a drive for me, and on top of that don't you have to be registered to do work in E-ville don't you?? So yea brother i"ll do the same for you if I get some calls from down in that area i"ll send them your way. and if you send me some I can promise you I'll have a check in the mail for you "finders fee" and I'd expect the same back.Â
After I got to thinking about your post you have gotten 4 calls this year 2mos hard to believe anyone is wanting there roof cleaned with the weather we have had It's only been nice the past week and half. So i sure hope that wasn't some how a negetive remark in around about way about the loser doing these roofs."maybe I'm looking into that to much"LOL Because A+ plus cleaning is very professional as you can see by my pictures  "I do excellent work". A+ Cleaning/Painting services on facebook . check it out everyone. I can also remember somebody from henderson 3 4 years calling wanting to know all my secrets that wouldn't happened to be you was it.lol Have a great week cleanig roofs. I cause I know there's alot of them in E-ville.
Oh,  I know, but you Know how some people are they want to DIY to save there self some $$$ But i can look at it, like its some what free advertising for roof cleaning.Â
Hey Coach, where you been lately? This is what happened to me last year. I'm an affiliate of a realtor associate. They had a booth at the show & I volenteered to help man it. I landed about 2000.00 worth of work cleaning roofs & I didn't pay a dime. Hope to do the same this year.
