Hire a ground man to spray water for you while you do the roof.

Depends on the type of surfactant you are using, how steep the roof is, the pump and the power supply. Gas powered setups you can use it pretty thick so it won't strain the pump/power supply too much.

12V pumps have a harder time with really thick mixtures unless you are using the best 12V FATBOY pump with a monster battery. The new FATBOY is almost as good as a gas powered pump.

What kind of surfactant, how steep is roof, what kind of battery? CCA/CA ?

What kind of roof mix are you using?  Are you going to use TSP or alcohol or both?

Without knowing the CCA/CA's of your battery. I would guess it will push your pump ok.

If you are going to use TSP and Borax, then you won't need that much dish soap

(again... I don't know what kind of surfactant you are using, your answers are not specific enough)

Make sure you have a dry day, don't spray during damp morning hours. How long it sits can vary, temperature and how bad the problem is,...are probably the two determining factors. Don't be surprised if you have to spray really black areas 2-3 times, sometimes this stuff can be a bear to burn through, especially on a steep pitch. Figure anywhere up to 30 minutes for the product to work thoroughly. I catch myself spraying more product than necessary sometimes simply because I didn't give the first round sufficient time to work, even though I know better!! I've been going to therapy to try and resolve this issue, Ha Ha. Are you rinsing?

Jeff

Yeah, good answer Jeff. If you want a faster more specific answer to your questions, give us a call.

Sometimes typing back and forth takes too long to find out all the details.

Personally I don't like Borax because it doesn't dissolve good. I use TSP and alcohol instead.  See APPLE CIDER SAUCE thread.

Dawn, Ajax, Tergitol NP-9 all work well.

NP-9- Thickest
Dawn- Thick
Ajax- Less thick

Good, use original, not anti-bacterial.

Instead of borax, for a 40 gallon mix, use 2 quarts of isopropol alcohol from Walmart.  You can cut your TSP down to 2 ounces/gallon when using alcohol.

See APPLE CIDER SAUCE thread.

100 gallon mix use 1 gallon of alcohol.

In 40 gallons of mix, a walkable roof,
with 5 lbs. TSP, 64 oz. alcohol, 12-24 ounces of dawn is plenty,

Like Jeff said, lots of factors will depend on your mix, how long to dwell, reapply, etc.

You'll get the hang of it with experience.

Excellent! Glad to hear. It makes me feel good to know I made a difference in your work.

How big was the roof?  How many gallons did it take?
