The thing that bothers me the most is that if we do our job like we should the roof looks new again. I know thats not a bad thing but before long everybody forgets you. I recently did a Real estate office to showcase my skills, it came out beautiful. When they came in Monday I went by to see what they thought. I had to take them outside to show them that I had already done it , I mean I even pulled out the (pressure washer it is not a bad word if used on concrete:) and cleaned the stoop. After I pointed it out to them they were all smiles. I know good before and afters help but it was raining off and on and I couldnt get a good picture. So I Have Come up with a plan ROOF ART I have a few concerns I dont want to buy any shingles. I want to put a design on a few really dirty roofs to draw attention and after a week clean the roof. The homeowner would get a discount and i think it will bring some curiosity to roof cleaning. I know its a little childish but I need to generate a buzz about our services. My only concern is will the application a week apart effect the final outcome of the roof.

Actually i have asked a couple people if i could clean half of the front elevation  and leave three signs in thier yards for thirty days,  Before on the dirty side and After on the clean side, with a company sign in the middle, and would do the entire roof for cost,  all i got was a firm NO  i guess if i want to do that i may have to give the job away, Who can say No to FREE right?

I like the idea, not sure how feasable it is trying to get a real message on a dirty roof, seems like the pitch would pose certain issues with it making it run. Unless I'm not understanding the concept.  I personally like the simple idea of free demonstrations. I find there are a lot of people curious but are afraid to say do it until you show them,.....then you can sell it fairly easy.

Maybe when it is warmer outside, do a demo on a Saturday so the other neighbors can see and just take your time so it is more of a chance for others to see you.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I personally would not want any more attention drawn to my dirty roof than necessary. I suspect our potential customers will have the same attitude. I tried to convince several customers last year to allow a demo for people in the neighborhood. Every single person said absolutely not. Even when I offered the cleaning for free.
Granted, I am new to the entire selling my service concept and maybe my pitch needs work. But I approached 14 different homeowners and all were unwilling to even consider the idea. Any ideas on arguments to change their position? Do any of you have a particular message you try to leave with them that works?

By the way, my roof is not actually dirty.

I have to wonder if they understood what you were offering,...I can't imagine any of my customers would have not allowed me to use their roof as a demo if I were to do their roof free of charge. People notice the dirty roofs whether they're untouched or if they're half done. How long did you tell the customers they would have to wait for their job to be completed?  Sounds like they was under the impression that you would do half their roof for free as long as it could be used as a referral.  I offer free demonstrations, which I believe makes people comfortable,...knowing I'm comfortable with my work and the process.
