I wonder why...(Non-metal roller pump)

I wonder why there has never been a poly or kynar roller pump? I can't see why a roller pump with a poly or kynar housing couldn't be made. Don't think pressure, should be an issue, and everything else in the pump could probably stay the same,...just need the housing to be chemical proof,...because anytime a I tear one apart to examine it ,..it's always the housing that is the worse for wear, which in turns beats the rollers up. Just brainstorming. Actually had this idea a few years ago and posted it on one of these boards. Time to look for local inventers or machinists.

I am not an engineer but when you have a 5 horsepower engine pulling on a pulley on a pump, the housing has to be strong enough to not break under the stress, most things that can handle the stress are usually metal.

If you had the case metal and the inside formed or pressed in with Kynar or Nylon or other resistant type of material, it might work but then the cost goes up very fast.

When you think about it, the diaphragm pump is probably the best thing out there because no huge stress points like a roller pump, no huge amounts of metal needed because of less pressures than most other types of pumps and the case and insides can withstand the chemical longer than metal.

Just my opinion.
