I second Mark's statement of appreciation. Until now all that I have learned has been through trial & error. What a person can read and learn in one day on this sight has taken me untold time, money, blood, sweat & tears to understand. I paid my way through collage in the 80's cleaning decks, cedar roofs, siding, and concrete. For the past 17 years it has remained both a part time job and a hobby. After being laid off Dec. 07 it has become full time and I can't imagine going back to Corp. america. With 20 plus years of experience I can still get on this forum and a few select others and learn how to improve the way I operate my business. In our ever changing enviroment of Technolgy, the EPA, OSHA, and insurance the ideas and instruction shared on this board are things that could take a business owner several life times uncover on his own. Enjoy your weekend, pray for warm weather and stay focused.
Nice catch!! I need to get to the river and get some casting in myself,....The Juniata River here in Huntingdon, Pa offers good fishing all year long,....definitely good for breaking the Winter blues!! Jeff

I'm here to learn, and if posting 100 times helps me get certified so be it. That means I have read at least 100 topics and have understod enough to post a coment on, or have had enough interest in to ask a question about it. Mabe I had one or two ideas to pass onto someone else.

There is the verbal testing as well. and roof cleaning references will be checked. Glad to have you here at RCIA !
New to The RCIA and look forward to learning more about the industry. I have already learned a few things and feel motivated to learn more. I have noticed in my area that a successfully ran roof cleaning business could prosper. I feel the information I can learn from this site will be priceless. I also like to think of myself as being able to problem solve and come up with the best possible way to do something. Hopefully I can bring something to the table in return for what others have brought. Look forward in learning each and everyday.
I think it is a great idea for something like this to help our industry, and make the service more nationally recognized.

Glad I found this site. Tons of information from a lot of good hard working AMERICANS. Thanks for all your years of trial and error methodology making start up operations easier for us newbies and lurkers. Chris sorry you did not have same info when you began, but sounds like it is paying it forward. Once again guys thanks and looking forward to more wise info.
What exactly is the State Roof Cleaning Forums. After searching the forum the only thing I could find is that you will be allowed to post in it after you become certified.
That is correct. After "certification" you are allowed to post your info in the state listing which is tied directly to the "Certified Roof Cleaners Directory" that is searchable by the public. Much work has been generated by this feature for fellow certified roof cleaners.
The very first post of this thread lists the requirements for certification. The training is received by reading as much as you can and getting out and putting it to practice.

I have never been certified by anything that didn't require time and money. chris has been gracious enough to make the money optional. as far as the time do it for us new guys. with your help and guidance we might even accidentally come up with something new. by the way has anyone ever got paid to wash headstones they always look dirty? I would personally like to thank everyone that posts on this forum with everything I learned on this forum I have been able to buy my wife and my girlfriend some new shoes lol
There can be INSANE money to be made cleaning roofs. Trust me when I say this. I have been doing Roof Cleaning In Tampafor a long time. I have had so many Thousand Dollar Days cleaning roofs I can't honestly remember them all. I do not just do roof cleaning for the Money. I absolutely LOVE it. Back when I started cleaning roofs in Tampa, it was lonely. Non Pressure Roof Cleaning was a black art, known only to a few, and they weren't talking. So, a long time ago, I decided to TEACH others how to clean roofs, so I would have some company. Sure, I taught most of my local competitors here in Tampa, as well as others across the USA. Now, I have LOTS of fellow roof cleaning friends to talk shop with. Actually, some of my "students" have taught ME stuff ! And, this is good. One day, the students here will be the roof cleaningteachers, and will know the satisfaction I know from teaching someone to feed his family. Money can't buy that

New to this site! Just found it a couple of days ago. Have been reading and trying to figure out what roof cleaning chemicals and equipment to get to add to my cleaning and pressure washing business. So far have found a lot of useful information. SO MUCH READING TO DO!!!!!! I am only in my third year of business, so far I have seem to made a good name for myself. I am not afraid to tell my customers that I don't know something, but I know people who do-- allowing me to research and get back to them(very much thanks to forums like this). This to me makes me a better business man(and more knowledgeable), and I think it helps my customers feel more comfortable about hiring me. with this forum and so many knowledgeable business owners out there willing to share such valuable information, I and so many others are on their way to offering a better service. Looking forward to becoming certified in Illinois.
