I've read a few things that have said to buy pre-mixed bio safe instead of bleach. I know of no better way to clean roofs then using a Sodium Hypochlorite roof cleaning mixture.
The alternatives, in our experience, require pressure.
Pressure is a no no, as a roof like you well knows!
The other stuff is questionable, and takes forever to clean, IF it really does.
Bleach type cleaners are not to be feared, as long as plants are wet down or covered  first, and kept wet during the cleaning process.
You do need a chemical application pump, and a tank set up.

I suggest you look at the formulas I have posted for Apple Cider and Apple Sauce.

You must locate a source for Sodium Hypochlorite.
Here in Florida, it is easy to find, almost on every corner.

Where are you located ?

We suggest a 225 gallon tank to start with.
A 12 volt roof cleaning pump from Flojet or Delevan is a good starter set up.
You CAN use 2 - 100 ft 5/8 garden hoses to get started in roof cleaning.
Better hoses later!
