Calcium Hypochlorite For Roof Cleaning ?

I have been all over various ask it boards for some time, always trying to improve.
Here is a link of me asking a question about Calcium Hypochlorite
https://ask.nsdl.org/default.aspx?id=12505&cat=1188

I as told on another board by a Plant Scientist that I should consider switching to Calcium Hypochlorite because it's breakdown product is Calcium, not Salt!

here is a link supporting that http://www.kitchenculturekit.com/calciumhypo.htm

According to this answer I received, we only need 43 pounds to get up to 7 percent equivalent strength of Sodium Hypochlorite ?

Sheet, that would actually be cheaper too http://www.waterwarehouse.com/products/sku-4858.html

Have we found the "promised land" ?

Seems simple ?

Since we have 500 plus gallon tanks, we simply dump 43 pounds in, stir, and wait overnight ?

The question IS, how much for a pound of that stuff ?

If this is true, just THINK of the implications ?

All you need do is spray, rinse plants, and walk away.

No worries about sodium poisoning like what happens when you leave SH on a roof!

C'mon guys, get into this thread, we might be on to something ?

It does not clean worth a dam, as is.
But working on a catalyst for it to improve cleaning action.
It has several advantages, IF we can make it work.

I've used Calcium Hypochlorite in the past with good results,...BUT for me the trade offs aren't worth it:

(1) Doesn't entirely dissolve which leaves a mess in whatever it's mixed in. (Adds up)

(2) A white residue is left behind (calcium) on anything that the mix comes in contact with during spraying. Seems no matter how thorough your "watering down the surroundings" the white residue always ends up showing up when dried. This is probably the biggest hurdle to jump when considering the use of Calcium Hypochlorite.

But it's still fun experimenting with things like this!!

Yeah, it is messy to work with, and leaves a nasty film.
But it gets us away from the Sodium that kills plants.
It is always fun to look at other alternatives.
Many are dead ends, but the journey is what is fun.

Here's another thread discussing CH,.. from 2 years ao...

And AC had alot of you believing he had it all figured out with the whole "Three Stooges" thing,...

"The soft wash revolution begins",..Ha,Ha,.

I also liked when he did his video proclaiming,."This is cold water fusion for the softwash industry" ,..what nonsense...

I talked to a pool guy this week about it and he said it would never dissolve.

If I remember right, I think he said it could stain the pool for a few days.

In pools there are hundreds and typically thousands of gallons of water,..the small particles are dispersed throughout and are still there,..just not noticable. Not to mention the amount to treat a pool are nothing comapared to what it is like trying to mix up roof cleaning mix in a small volume of water.

Small amount of water,..and LOTS of CH,...is gonna make a mess.
