Are pennies even made of copper now. If any not very much im sure. LOL

I see I was late to the game on this one. Guess I should of read down. LOL

For giggles here is the comp-

1983-20022.50 g19 mm97.5% Zinc and 2.5% Copper (20% lighter)

Also if your really that interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_(United_States_coin).

When ever running any sort of test better to use the exact material to be cleaned.
Im no chemist but metals can produce different effects when combined so it may be better to  have the material your actually cleaning to test as Walk stated. Environmental factors can even play a part of the effects on the material being cleaned.

Has anyone ever done any copper restoration.... returning it to its near original shiny appearance? I had some copper problems before and tried to restore it using a few methods I found on the web. None of them worked. If you have had any success with this, I'd like to discuss it with you.

Does the copper cleaner you use to clean the bottom of pans work, or does it ruin the finish?

I never knew anyone that wanted the new look, everyone likes the weathered look of copper, thats's why they use copper.

Hey chris,

I know were getting off roof topic here for some.  But, is the love good for regular gutters.   I hit some gutters with some 2 week old left over mix and over sprayed with peroxide then used a rotating pressure washing brush and it seemed to take a good deal of the streaks off.  (i can tell u guys by watching the chemical reaction on the gutters DO NOT MIX LOVE & Peroxide in the same container).  They seemed to come up nice, I may have to hit a few spots again though.

In my experience:

Ammonyx-Lo and water with just enough SH to kill the blue-green algae and a soft brush without any pressure what-so-ever will clean 99% of the gutters.
No peroxide or Borax needed. I use a solution of approx. 5 gallon SH to 1/2 Gallon Ammonyx-Lo (maybe a tad more) into 50 gallons of water.

And in my opinion... gutters, soffits, and facia are part of the roof.

How about TSP?  The SH does seem to do the job on the soffit and fascia.  But really dirty gutters seem to need a little kick.

BTW do most of you use borax in the roof mix?

You can use simple green or purple power from a store, or you can get F13 from pressuretek or streak lightning from PWP

Does simple green and purple power create the same results as f13?
