First off, watch my Youtube videos and see the difference between soft washing at 60 psi and power washing at 3000 to 4000 psi. Go to YOUTUBE.COM and search for - Bergman Roof Cleaning

HERE ARE 3 VIDEOS. 1st is a shingled roof cleaning, 2nd is a no walk on tile roof being cleaned, and 3rd is Flat Surface Cleaning Machine being used to Super Clean a driveway.

There are 2 ways to clean roofs - power washing and soft washing. Many roofing manufacturers specify that the soft wash method be used, so as not to void the roof's warranty and of course, so as not to prematurely wear the roof surface out. I'm sure the specify this "chemical cleaning - non-pressure method, so they don't have to replace roofs prematurely, under the roof warranty, due to wear and tear from pressure washing equipment use.

To have a roof pressure washed, a worker must walk on almost every square foot of the roofing, dragging very heavy, stiff, power washing hoses behind them and much of the time, out of sight, so the worker is unable to see that the hose is lifting a tile of tearing a shingle tab etc. Cracking tile is all but inevitable when pressure washing, simply because basically every tile on the roof must be stepped on.

My father and son business uses soft wash equipment on roofs and a pressure washing machine is never started during the roof cleaning process! We are able to either do the whole job from a step ladder or, walk on perhaps 10% of your roof. If anyone tells a homeowner that he is going to do softwashing on their roof, the homeowner should ask "Will a pressure washer be started up at any time during the cleaning of my roof?"

If the contractor says "YES, BUT" he will be pressure washing your roof, plain and simple!

Because it takes a trailer load of specialized equipment to do soft washing, many contractors who pressure wash everything, will say "We turn the pressure way down" { Even 100 psi will blow your granules off your shingles and do you have a pressure gauge to know what pressure the machine is set at? Unfortunately, it's not an honest world, so, chances are, the pressure [ psi ] will be in the thousands! }

Some say "We just use a pressure washer to rinse" Yes, they rinse at 3500 psi - ie they pressure wash the roof!

Only if no pressure washer is started up at all, can the roof truly be soft washed.

Florida Roof Cleaning Using The "Roofing Manufacturers Method" Is Not Pressure Cleaning! It's a no pressure, cleaning agent only method.

At Chuck Bergman Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing, clearly we do all types of pressure cleaning and I have done so since 1989 here in Charlotte County, Fl Since 1994 it has been a father and son business.

We pressure wash ho just don't pressure clean roofing, because it is the wrong way to clean a roof and causes too much wear and damage to roofs.
