SoftWashing with an Airpump
Permalink

Hi Guys,

Just looking for a little help here   We cleaned a building yesterday with an 8 gpm PW with large tips to bring the pressuure way down but we were lacking in reach.

I need to know if we switch to a good air pump system we can use both on the roof and also on the buildings what will we need to buy to make it work.

It would be nice to hit 60 ft or so from the ground.

We don't do any pressure cleaning of concrete so its purely for building washing and roof cleaning.

Hope someone can help me out.

Bill

Hi Gary,

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me today and for all the great advice, You said you had posted a shopping list of whats needed to set up a system but I just cant figure out where it is, Could not find the post with the pictures of your set up either.

Maybe post it again if you have a few minutes spare.

Once again THANK YOU for taking the time to talk to me.

I doubt any air system will reach 60 ft....best to get lift for those jobs.

Had a video on facebook several years ago, but can;t find it now. ????  Kevin from peak of perfection also shoots 70+' with his. He may have a video? I really don't care if people believe it or not. Not into controversy anymore!!

Hey Gary,..I haven't any doubt a big air pump with a big compressor can shoot 70'. But cleaning 70' feet from the ground effectively is gonna be an issue. Just can't be done properly. At 70' a lift would be used and the job would be done properly,..benefiting the customer and the contractor.

70' across the yard is one thing,..but to reach 70' up the side of a building? You'd have to stand right at the base of the building and shoot straight up,..who cleans that way,Ha,Ha,..

Kinda' like a 24' ladder won't get you 24' feet up,...the angle robs you of height.

@Bill,..if you're gonna be washing buildings,..your 8 GPM is what you want to use,..it will be more beneficial than an air pump. Air pumps are great for roof cleaning and application of strong SH to other surfaces,..but when it comes to rinsing,..you're gonna be throttled at 100-150 PSI max. That will work,...but not as effectively as 8 GPM at 800-1000 PSI. You're still not gonna hurt anything,...because you're not gonna be right on the surface when rinsing anyhow,..but that extra PSI makes a difference when reaching up and removing stubborn debris like bees nests etc...

Most everyone who washed buildings on a regular basis uses a pressure washer rather an air pump. I like this board,..but it is geared for roof cleaning. Go over to ProPowerWash.com and you will find lots of information on cleaning with your 8 GPM machine.

Hey Bill,..not even sure how that became a link,..I just typed it in and didn't add it as a link??
Either way though try this one: http://www.propowerwash.com/board/upload/forum.php

Go down the page to "Pressure Washing 210"  and you'll find lots of topics to read up on.

They also have a roof cleaning section.

Use the search button alot and you'll learn more than you intended.

Jeff

Yes, we are not ashamed this forum is nearly 100% about cleaning roofs biggrin

The Grime Scene also has a ton of pressure washing information on it
