Vendor for Floramask - Green Apple
Permalink

Fellow roof cleaners, shingle washers...Just got of the phone with Florachem in reference to their Floromask - Green Apple. They said they stopped supplying it to the vendor in Tampa (Lori?). They said that they have a new vendor out of North Carolina and I felt I should share the information.

Dana

X-terior Sales and Service

919-779-7905

1 qt.=$35

1 Gal.-$95

I ordered some for my roof cleaning mix here in Tallahassee, Florida because the roof wash mix is pretty strong and would like to knock down the SH smell just a bit. The price may sound a bit high to add this to your shingle washing mix but it goes along way. (Dana suggested 4-6 oz per 100 gal.) They also sell 55 gal. drums.

Chris, If this is true and Lori is not supplying it any longer, might want to give Dana a shout to see if she would be willing to become a premium vendor!

That was my price with shipping. W/O shipping, I think it was $23 per qt. / $80 per gallon.

I was getting it last year shipped 5 gal like $325.00 thats way to high and I dont think 4 -6 oz for 100 gallons is going to cut it. I say at least 1 cup per 50 gal

You can still smell the sh. I don't hide the fact that I use sh when a customer asks. Save your money.

The 4-6oz was to tone down the roof cleaning mix scent and said that 1oz to 5 gal. removed the SH scent dramaticly in thier testing. I just wanted to post this info for other roof cleaning pro's who currently use this and might be in search of it.

(I personally like the smell of SH)!  biggrin

She also has a surfactant that is SH stable but I'm not to familiar with it. In her testing, she said the Green Apple floats on top of the roof cleaning mix unless it's mixed with a surfactant.

As a side note to visitors: The information you are gaining here on the RCIA is well worth the donation to becoming a "Premium Member".

I like using a fragrance but that price for 5 gallons is absurd!

Pricey stuff. There are alternatives much cheaper and more effective.

But the info is helpful for those that use it. Thanks

just curious, do you guys that use fragrance do it because you're trying to hide what you're using from the customer or just to tone down the smell? i never volunteer my ingredients but if they ask, and 95% of the time they do, i'm always very upfront with them.

The preffered fragrance for me is apple!!! Apple roof washing! Apple smell get it? I'm gonna stay with the vanilla. Like the price. And who I'm getting it from. Wish they still had the apple.

To answer another question. To hide the smell of SH? If asked the roof soap is chlorine based.

I add some type of smell good to all of my mixes. I believe it adds value. Doesnt totally hide the smell but an additional smell.

"Gutterdogs did a great job cleaning my......., whatever he used it smelled good too!"

I still don't understand why anyone uses fragrances to cover up SH, all my customers love the smell, they say it smells clean like it's suppose to, or is it that you get tired of people asking if the SH is going to kill the vegetation??

Here in Iowa it is farm country and chemicals isn't a big issue. But because most people know about chems they know what SH is and can due to their landscaping. So I mask the smell, completely, and I never get questions anymore. I also use a ground person that is real good and am training him for my other truck next season.

Personally, I think whatever works is the way to go. One thing I have learned about this service is the end result is all that counts. Secondly no one person has all the answers to believe so is naive.

One last note. It confuses me why some of this stuff always ends up on the open side?

Could have a more open discussion on the premium side, as I won't say somethings here.

Probably because everything is scattered all over the place any way and it's a hassle going from here to the premium side, just like no one uses the Shade any longer, Thats my guess??????

Just my take on Green Apple.

I use about a 45% SH / 55% water mix on tile and with what testing I did with green apple, you will need about 1/2 gallon in 100 gallons of mix-to actually smell any apple. Bruce Sullivan and I talked on the phone a few weeks ago and he felt about the same as me about it. TOO EXPENSIVE just to mask sh smell.
