RE: Flushing Gutters

Lets come to a jist here. Think that the right word. I'm thinking about rinsing gutters, but I didnt catch the same reason?

This is to get out of bagging gutters? A gutter full of frozen Ice? (think twice about owning that).

I'm thinking about puting something together, to keep water flowing in the CLEAN gutters n downspouts, Then you wouldnt have to bag downspouts. The chit coming out so diluted. Fuk it. BUT!!!! How much extra work is this?

Bottom line.....

I think some one posted, uhh,, They been doing this long time, and this is extra chit! (My condensed version).

MAJOR Question I dont know. SH and rust.

SH and aluminum. rust.

Can that happen? Can our roof cleaning mix, rust aluminum. I'm saying no.

rust aluminum no but oxidize yes the powdery stuff on old aluminum is aluminum oxide

Mike - I'm sure you know this; roof mix can be very hard on the paint on aluminium siding. And I just had a HVAC guy explain to me how bad salt water can be on outside evaporator units.

I rinse them down too.

I've seen a lot of gutters full of solid ice in the middle of winter and still hanging without problem. If installed correctly, their should be no problem with the extra weight. Make sure you look at how well they are fastened before you start.

Well I clean alot of gutters and I can certainly say plugging the downspout and overflowing the gutter is a real bad idea. Gutters hold alot weight when there full and it can loosen there connection to the house causing them to be misaligned therfore not work as there supposed to. Sure you will be long gone as the gutters get worse and worse and eventually need to be replaced, but good business ethics by not causing future damage to someones house goes along way.

Yes they do get quite a build up ice, but thats an uncontrollable act of god.

yeah i want to know if anybody has successfully plugged and overflowed gutters as their daily practice and not seen damages. i like the gutter cane idea but not with plugged ds.

I have been using a gutter canes since i started cleaning roofs and have not had a problem.Just turn them on before you start.Made 4 of them and use them all on every house.

Eric, do you plug the downspouts so the cane causes overflow out the tops of the gutters or do you let it all flow out the downspouts?
