Thanks a lot for the kind words Mike
We clean tile roofs 5 days a week here in the Tampa Florida area, and seldom take pictures of them anymore. But when it is an exceptional home we do, we like to take a pic or 2 of it.

Thanks Dave! Of course, every tile roof we clean here in the Tampa Florida area is not 14,000 square feet, but if we have a roof cleaning niche, it is doing the really big roof cleaning jobs. For some, roof cleaning is just one of many services they offer, not so with us. It is our business, and our only business, so we are set up for whatever job we encounter.
Nice job Chris! That is one nice job. Did it have copper gutters?

That tile roof in Tampa that we cleaned a few weeks ago did not have copper gutters, but it did have all kinds of copper roof accents that we were asked to take care not to remove the patina on.
As you know, the least little bit of tile roof cleaning chemical overspray will quickly remove the patina of the copper, that took years to form.
The customers wife was quite fond of this copper roof patina, and did not want it removed, or altered in any way.
That week we cleaned this tile roof was a windy one, here in Tampa Florida.
Thank God we have precision spray equipment, pumps that can spray with enough force into the wind, so the effect on the spray pattern is minimized.
Like you Marcus, we are also using a large air pump and a huge air compressor, so pulsation is minimized. The last thing we wanted, on that windy day in Tampa we were forced to clean this large barrel tile roof on, was pulsation, especially with all that copper!
This customer was looking for an experienced tile roof cleaner, who would do what they wanted, and work carefully on their lovely Tampa home.
Like most affluent customers, he was looking for quality and competence from his tile roof cleaners, not for the lowest price.
Just got through working on my trailers in the garage. High maintenance business...
I am glad they were not copper gutters. In regard to copper gutters, there are many more jobs out there and I do not need the head aches. If I ever see a roof cleaning job with copper gutters I will quickly pass.
You are very correct, Chris. Most affluent customers are more interested in quality and competence when hiring tile roof cleaners than the lowest price.

We feel the same way about tile roofs here in Tampa Marcus, with copper gutters! However, we sometimes get them to clean, because our customers have had bad experiences with pressure washing in the past, and don't want that type of invasive tile roof cleaning ever again.
When and if we run across copper gutters on a job, here is what we do. We ask for us customers to read and then sign a hold harmless. Once upon a time, we cleaned a large tile roof up in North Tampa, with the copper gutters, and the customer refused to pay us because the cleaning chemicals stripped the patina from his gutters.
Of course, the chemical has to go somewhere, and there was no practical way we could keep it out of the gutters, and clean his tile roof too, and he knew this. But he was in what is called The Reserve At Tampa Palms, a very affluent, and highly deed restricted area. He did not want to even get his roof cleaned, but was forced to do it by the Homeowners Association. He was a very rude, arrogant person, newly rich, and liked to throw his weight around. Old Money is not like this!
He told us we had "quite a racket going", turning people in Tampa Palms into the HOA, to get work
He got his roof cleaned for free, and I vowed never to work for free again after that!
Yes, I could have sued him, but we are very very busy, so why throw good money after bad, and waste another day in court.
I just wrote it off, and went on.
Now, if a customer has a tile roof with copper gutters, we inform them of the effect of the cleaning chemical on their gutters, and they sign an agreement, or we move on.
Fortunately, here in Tampa, we don't see very much copper gutters, or roof accents either.

Nice one Chris.
Thanks a lot Eric! We have been super, super busy, cleaning all these roofs here in the Tampa area. The last 3 years have been normal rainfall for a change, and the algae is growing back like a weed because of it. Plus, our season will be starting very soon, when all the winter residents come back here to Florida, from their summer homes up north. This past summer was a pretty rainy one, and as you know, we can't clean roofs in the rain, so it has backed us up a bit.
We were booking 3 weeks out, but with hard work, 6 days a week, we were able to cut it back to a week to 10 days. Roof Cleaning here in Tampa is not new, and most of our customers don't seem to mind the wait, vs the alternative that is taking their chances with some other roof cleaning company.
The new forum is going great, and I happened to notice that you have had over 8000 hits that redirected to your website http://roofcleaninginstitute.org/index.php?/forum/53-california/
You are still our only RCIA Certified Roof Cleaner out in California though
Kevin from Peak Of Perfection up in Washington State is originally from California, and he is very active on the new forum. He is going great guns up there, cleaning Cedar Roofs! He signed up for Bruce Sullivan's Cedar Roof Cleaning Training and network, something you may want to consider, if you haven't already ?There are not enough Cedar Roofs here in the Tampa area, we just don't see them here.
Kevin is selling the roof cleaning hose reel from Hell Eric, it is really quite an advancement.
There is no manifold on it, the hose goes right through the hose reel center, and uses a swivel, so the cleaning chemicals never contact the hose reel, meaning it should last a very long time. I may order one for the new flatbed roof cleaning truck we are building presently.
Good to hear from you my friend
